CHAPTER THREE

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.1 Introduction
Research methodology is the essential to settle prior to initiate research
activities. It is needed to state basic design, method and tool of research so that
researcher can choose right instrument and process to accomplish research
objectives. Research is problem with a view of understand and providing
explanations. Research have been define as process of arriving of a dependable
solution to problem through a systematic collection, analysis and inter presentation
of data.

Research methodology is one of the important aspects of a research work. It

usually rotates around the research question. This chapter entails the presentation
of techniques that the researcher used in collecting relevant data for the study.

3.2 Research Design

The research is based on the assessment of customer care services in promoting
hospitality industry performance. The design was a descriptive design which used
quantitative tool. The study was based on the use of questionnaire. These
approaches were used because they were satisfactory tools for collecting data for
the sample population to investigate the research.
3.3 Population of the Study
According to Kothari (2004), Population as a member of any organization well
defined in class of people, events or objects. The intended population were
exclusive the staff of Oasis Hotel Damaturu was used in carrying out the research.
The population of the study consisted of 30 employees from the various
departments of the Hotel.
3.4 Sample and Sampling Size of the Study
A sample size will be chosen base on the convenient sampling technique
3.5 Instruments for Data Collection
The researcher will be using questionnaire. The researcher prepared the
questionnaire to be administered to the employees of the organization. The
questions will be designed to make the purpose of the study successful before the
results have been ascertained. The target population will be regarded as been
homogeneous and could give the much needed information for reliable results and
since it give few chance for sampling statistical errors.
3.6 Procedure for data Collection
The researcher is to make use of both primary and secondary data in this research
which will be collected using questionnaire, where the data being collected and
designed specifically to answer the research questions. In this study, the researcher
will use self-administered questionnaire to gather the information needed. The
advantages of questionnaire are it can be collected easily, more quickly and more
economically compared to other data collected method.
Secondary data can be obtained existing sources and such as books, official
records, journals, media and census data (Cavanaugh et al 2000). Secondary data is
easier to be obtained in a faster way, and less expensive to be obtained via the
internet. Online journals and related websites. The data collection method of this
study will self-administered using 5 point like it scale questionnaire.
3.7 Method of Data Analysis
The collected data will be analyzed using tabulation, frequencies and percentages
in order to transmit the raw data into a meaningful and information that can be
used by individual and organization. In analyzing and test of the hypothesis, the
Chi-square test technique will be applied.
