5 Commissioning

Acceptance testing is generally performed with 100% GQ and VKN downwards

and with the car empty and VKN upwards!

The EN81 test (125% GQ and with VKN downwards

and with the car empty and VKN upwards) can be performed if required!

Commissioning is identical for safety gear with and without bypass linkage.
The figures show safety gear without bypass linkage.

Prerequisites
A) Entire elevator system installed, operational and counterweight balanced.
B) Recall control operational.
C) Safety switch (step switch) for safety gear in rest position (safety circuit
closed).Movetheswitchtocorrectpositionbypressingdownswitch
roller if necessary.
Switch position cannot be determined from outside!
D) Commissioning of GBPD overspeed governor completed
in accordance with assembly instructions K 603 434 and
acceptance certificate K 603 436.
E) Progressive safety gear allocation checked in accordance with type plate.

5.1 Actuation in Downward Direction

5.1.1 Preparation and Test Procedure
!
The Schindler or EN81 test is used to demonstrate correct setting of braking force in the
safety gear.
Observe GED10/15/20 acceptance and correction certificate (K 603 435)!

1 Load car with with 100% GQ (Schindler test) or 125% GQ (EN 81 test) and stop at highest
possible floor.

As EN81 defines a test with 125% GQ, it must be ensured that the car can be unloaded
before brake release.
Reason: Under some circumstances, power reserves of some drives may not suffice for
brake release with recall control!

5.1.2 Release after Engagement in Downward Direction

1 Disengage car upwards with recall control.

!
The GED10/15/20 requires approx. double rated torque for release to return the
eccentric to the initial position. The friction force for release is increased dynamically
by free movement of the supporting bolt in the slot).
The GED10/15/20 is held in the upper position by a compression spring!

It must without our written consent neither be copied in

Depending on installation configuration, safety gear release may require several starts.
Load shall be taken off the drive between starts by opening and closing the parking brake
or by turning the handwheel in the direction of engagement (downward).
⇒ Principle of Rocking free!

If this procedure does not work after several tries (up to 6×), the brake can be released
with a traction sheave clamp and additional turning of the handwheel.

5.2 Actuation in Upward Direction

Do not perform acutation in upward direction until actuation test in downward direction
has been completed successfully.

5.2.1 Preparation and Test Procedure

1 Fully empty car and park at lowest possible floor.

2 Inupt car call and travel upwards at VKN.

Hold parking brake open manually during test until car comes to a complete stop.

The safety gear engages and decelerates the car. However, in installations with low
hoistway height, the counterweight may impact the buffer at reduced speed in the event
that braking distance is several meters.

5.2.2 Disengagement after Engagement in Upward Direction

1 Use recall control to disengage car in downward direction.

!
The GED10/15/20 requires a release force to turn the eccentric back to the initial
position. The GED10/15/20 outer casing has a free travel distance (support bolt in slot)
to reduce the required disengaging force. The GED10/15/20 is in the lower position
and compresses the disk springs!

Depending on installation configuration, safety gear release may require several

starts. Load shall be taken off the drive between starts by opening and closing the
parking brake or by turning the handwheel in the direction of engagement
(downward).
⇒ Principle of Rocking free!

If this procedure does not work after several tries (up to 3×), the car must be loaded
with weight (max. GQ/2) or the brake can be released with a traction sheave clamp
