The extended I/O YPQ110A is used together with application controller

YPP110A.
It has
- 2 analog outputs
- 4 analog inputs
- 8 digital outputs
- 8 digital inputs

The YPQ110A can be used both as local or remote I/O.

When used as local I/O it is mounted close to the YPP110A and

connected to the parallel I/O-bus. The connection is made with a ribbon
cable.

When used as remote I/O it can be mounted anywhere and connected

to the low speed serial bus (RS-485).

No configuration is needed when selecting local or remote. Just

connect the parallel I/O-bus or the low speed serial bus.

3.1. Address switch

On top of the board is the address switch that can be turned with a
small screw driver. The address can be set to 0-9,A-F corresponding to
board address 0-15 on the function element.

3.2. Indicators

The top left green led indicates that power is OK. All internal voltages
+24 V, +15 V,-15 V and + 5 V are supervised.

The top right red led indicates a fault.

- If the led is constant on the CPU, the board is not working
- If the led is flashing fast the CPU has detected a fault on the
board.
- If the led is flashing slow the I/O board has not received new
data within the timeout period

The 8 yellow led is on the left indicate the status of the digital inputs
starting with channel 1 at the top. The led is on when there is a high
voltage at the input.
The 8 yellow led is on the right indicate the status of the digital outputs
starting with channel 1 at the top. When the led is on the output
contacts are closed.

4. Descriptions
The I/O-board YPQ110A is mounted next to the application controller
YPP110A or next to another I/O-board. It is connected to the I/O-bus
with a 64 pole ribbon cable at X1 and also powered from it. X2 is not
connected except for remote I/O, see below.

The board address can be set to 0 - 15 (0-9,A-F) with the board

address switch.

A timeout period can be set by software. When the I/O board has not
been updated with new data within the timeout period the outputs is
reset. This is not implemented in the local I/O function elements but can
be used with remote I/O.

4.1. Digital inputs

The function is initiated by the PC element DIEXT. A high voltage at the

input gives at logic "1" at the PC element's output.

There are separate inputs for 24 V and 110 V. X3 is used for 24 V and
X4 for 110 V. A mixed combination is possible i.e. channel 1 connected
at X3.1 for 24 V input and channel 2 connected at X4.2 for 110 V input.

Channel 1 - 4 share a common return at X3.9 and X4.9 and channel 5-

8 share a common return at X3.10 and X4.10.

When used with AC voltage, the digital filter should be set to a minimum
10 ms at the PC element. The I/O-board YPQ110A allows individual
filter time constants for each channel.

4.2. Digital outputs

The function is initiated by the PC element DOEXT. A logic "1" at the

PC element's input closes the output switch.

Channel 1 -6 has relay contacts with one connection at X5 and the

other connection at X6. They can be used with both AC and DC
voltages.

Channel 7 - 8 has optocouplers with the positive connection at X5 and

the negative connection at X6. They can only be used with DC
voltages. If the polarity is reversed the output will conduct through the
protection diode.

13
Exteded I/O Board 3AFE58177636

4.3. Analog outputs

The function is initiated by the PC element AOEXT. The input to the PC

element is an integer. Maximum output is +9.9975 V for value +32760
and minimum output is -9.9975 V for value -32760.

The output is referenced to 0 V at X9.3 and X9.4.

4.4. Analog inputs

The function is initiated by the PC element AIEXT. The output of the PC
element is an integer. Maximum value is +32760 for input +9.9975 V
and minimum is -32760 for input -9.9975 V when using ± 10 V range.

Input range is set with the PC element parameter CONV.

1. ±1 V ± 2 mA
2. ± 10 V ± 20 mA
3. 4 - 20 mA

A current mode resistor of 500 ohm is provided on the board. The

current mode resistor terminal shall be connected to the positive input
when used with current signals. If CONV = 3 and the input current is <
3.5 mA an error signal is set at the PC element, (see element
description).

The digital filter is disconnected when a filter time constant < 5 ms is

set.

5. Grounding
The 0 V on the I/O-board is connected to the rack unit housing the I/O-
board which shall be grounded in the cubicle with the four fastening
screws at the back of the box. Analog I/O signals shall use screened
cables with the screen connected to the row of holes at the front of the
rack unit. This is necessary to get the best possible immunity to
disturbances.

6. Remote I/O

6.1. Connections

The remote I/O-board is connected to the low speed serial bus. The
bus is a multi-drop configuration. Star connection is not allowed. A
screened cable with two twisted pairs shall be used. The cable shall be
terminated at both ends. The master end, normally at an APC, has an
active termination and the last device on the bus has a passive
termination.
