JULY 2023

1
INTRODUCTION
Hospital is a health service institution that provides complete individual
health services, National Hospital must provide Safe and quality (IPD) inpatient,
(OPD) outpatient and (UGD) emergency services. The Emergency Room (IGD) is a
service unit in a hospital that provides initial treatment for patients. The
Emergency Room functions to receive, stabilize and manage patients who need
immediate emergency treatment, both in daily and disaster situations and has
the ability to process triage to select based on the level of emergency, in
accordance with established standards.
In view with this , National Hospital must provides a triage area/room
to screen incoming patients before services are carried out (PMK No. 40 of 2022)
and must implement and observe the triage standards set by the head/director of
the hospital (PMK No. 47 of 2018). Triage is a special process of sorting patients
based on the severity of the injury or disease to determine the type of emergency
treatment/intervention.

BACKGROUND
Emergency services of National Hospital must be continuously improved
to meet the expectations of the public who always want safe and quality services

Based on data received by customer care and Google reviews on March 2023
there were several patient’s complaints of long waiting time and respond
time .
During monitoring and inspections in the Emergency Room , we
observed and came up with the conclusion that customer/ patients complaints
may be due to the triage process that are not being followed or strictly observed.
Action plan were made and in order to carry out the triage process , a triage table
was setup in front of the emergency room entrance, but upon monitoring of the
new triage area it was found out that it cannot provide privacy and comfort to the

patients undergoing the screening process. In view with this a proposal to create
an ideal triage area. (Please see the picture below.)
