North America
Location
North America is a continent in the Northern Hemisphere and almost entirely within the Western
hemisphere. It is the third largest continent out of the seven. North America has an area of 24,709,000
km 2 accounting for 16.5% of the world's total land area.

Terrain and Climate
The continent of North America includes every climate, this is because the continent covers a broad
area. In the northern area of the continent, it is mainly cold, but not as cold as the ice caps and is
moreover subarctic and tundra climates. There are tropical rainforests and savannas in the lowlands of
Central America, you will see the lush greenlands and lots of rain.
The two major mountain ranges of the continent, which are the Appalachians and the Rockies, affect
the climate greatly. The surrounding regions of the mountain regions are semiarid and desert.
The four major lakes of North America are: Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario,
these lakes are positioned near the Canada-American borders.

Resources

The main natural resources in North America are coal, nickel, iron ore, zinc, and metals like gold and
silver. America holds the largest reserve for coal and was the leading producer in oil in 2019.
More materials and natural resources include bauxite and copper.

When it comes to agriculture, North American farmers produce and harvest oranges, bananas, cocoa,
lots of fruits and vegetables, cotton, and tobacco. Important agricultural areas include the Rio Grande
Valley in Texas, U.S.A, Gulf Coastal Plain and the Sandy Valleys on Appalachians.

South America

Location

South America is a continent entirely in the Western hemisphere and mostly in the Southern
hemisphere. With a small portion in the Northern hemisphere at the Northern tip of the continent.

Terrain and Climate

In general, the climate in South America is hot and humid. Countries like Northern Brazil, Colombia,
Peru, Ecuador, and Venezuela have been dominated by rainforest and consistent hot and humid
weather, and high rainfall. French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Ecuador are usually the wettest
countries in South America. The climate in South America can be divided into four major climates:
tropical, temperate, arid, and cold.

Resources

South America's major mineral resources are gold, silver, copper, iron ore, tin, and petroleum. These
resources are valuable to the government as it brought high income to its countries.

For agriculture, South American farmers mainly use slash-and-burn agriculture for producing corn and
rice. South America is an agricultural powerhouse, with its temperate climate and vast land and water,
agriculture stems a large part of their economies. South American food crops include cassava, sweet
potato, tomato, brazil nuts, and pineapples and a whole lot more.

Language and Ethnic Groups

In South America, Spanish is the most spoken language while Portuguese comes second. When it comes
to immigrant languages, English, German, and Italian are the top three.
However, there are indigenous languages, in the Andean region, the Quechua language is spoken by
8,000,000 people. Other indigenous languages include Guarani in Paraguay, Aymara in Peru and Chile,
and Mapapundugan in Chile.

Population

The population of South America is equivalent to 5.53% of the total world population. The total
population of South America is estimated to be close to 427 million or 427,199,446 people in 2019.
Afrika

Location

Africa is the second largest populated continent and second largest continent. At about 30.2 million km
including adjacent areas, it counts up to 6% of Earth's total land surface. The continent is bounded on
the west by the Atlantic ocean, on the north is the Mediterranean Sea, on the east by the Red Sea and
Indian Sea.
