From the article, it is evident that the Hispanics lack the resources and

opportunities influencing their life chances and health status due to the U.S.

Census racial categories. As such, the Hispanics look at social-patterned

experiences and exposures that negatively affect their health and this leads to

disability, disease, and even death. Discrimination is also present for those

American Indians with dark skin and this means that they receive less education.

At the same time, the occupations they hold are those of low prestige as compared

to those held by their counterparts with lighter skin. The racial categorization

among Hispanics is attributed to several reasons such as their native status amongst

many others.
