Direction. Answer each of the following items below: Write your answers
and/or solutions legibly on A4 paper and submit them by January 30,
2023, at 12:00 p.m.
1. Two angles are complementary. One angle is 10◦ less than three times
the other. Find the measures of the two angles.
2. Lines AB and CD intersect at point O. If the degree measure of
∠AOD is 12◦ more than twice the measure of ∠BOD, find the measure
of angles ∠AOC and ∠COB.
3. Is it true that if two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, then the
pairs of interior angles on the same side of the transversal are supple-
mentary. Explain why or why not.
4. In the figure below, line a is parallel to b. Find the values of x and y.

5. In the figure below, △RSW ∼ = △RU W . If SV ∼

= U T , prove that

ST = U V . Use a two-column proof.

6. If both pairs of opposite sides of a quadrilateral are congruent, what

can be said about the quadrilateral? Justify your answer.
7. In square ABCD (figure not shown), point E lies in the interior of
ABCD in such a way that △ABE is an equilateral triangle. Find the
degree measure of ∠DEC, ∠ADE, and ∠EBC.
8. In a gambrel style roof, the gable end of a barn has the shape of an
isosceles trapezoid surmounted by an isosceles triangle as shown below.
If AE = 30 ft and BD = 24 ft, find AS, V D, and CD.

9. In right △ABC with right angle at C (figure not shown), CD is the

altitude from the vertex C to the side AB. If BC = 10 cm and BD = 8
cm, find the length of the altitude and the length of the segment AD.
10. In △ABC (figure not shown), BD is the altitude from the vertex B
to the side AC. If AB = 10 cm, BC = 24 cm, and AC = 26 cm. Find
the length of the altitude BD.

For items 11 - 13, refer to the circle at the right.

11. In ⊙O, AB, BC, CD, and AD

are chords. Prove that △ABE ∼
△CDE.
12. In the same figure at the left,
BE = 9 cm, EC = 8 cm and
AD = 18 cm. Find AE and ED.
13. If m∠AEB = 63◦ , mCDd
= x and
mABd
= 3x + 6, find mAB.

M , N , and P , respectively. If AB = 14, BC = 16, and AC = 12, find
the AM , P C, and BN .

points A and B; radii lengths for ⊙O and ⊙Q are 4 and 9, respectively.
Find AB.
