The safety of wireless Technology : Perspectives and implications By Arjen Dhillon

Wireless technology has revolutionized our world, giving us unlimited

communication, data transfer, and connecting us to what we love (Health Canada) .

However, as with any technological advancement, concerns have increased due to the

potential impact on human health and people just like you and me . In this essay, we will

explore the physics behind wireless technology, investigate the health concerns shown

with its use (Globe and Mail article) and discover the multiple viewpoints of

stakeholders involved in this issue. We will also consider the political, economic,

environmental, and health factors related to wireless technology and its safety. Finally, I

will present my opinion on the matter, supported by arguments by the experts and finally

myself and where I use wireless technology and how I should be aware of the risks

Many people are not familiar Wireless technology and how it operates on the

principles of electromagnetic waves. Devices such as cell phones, Wi-Fi routers, and

Bluetooth-enabled Earbuds transmit these electromagnetic waves. Personally, I am a

victim of this myself as I use wireless earbuds to transmit data through radiofrequency

(RF) signals. These signals are sent and received throughout antennas, allowing

devices to communicate without physical connections and eventually electromagnetic

connections (World Health Organization) .

The primary health concern associated with wireless technology is the potential

exposure to RF radiation. Some studies have suggested that prolonged exposure to high

levels of RF radiation may lead to health issues, such as headaches, sleep disturbances,

and increased cancer risks (Globe and Mail article). However, it is essential to note that

scientific consensus on this matter remains inconclusive, and further research is

needed to establish a definitive link.

To cover the multiple stakeholders and viewpoints

Firstly health canada As a public health agency, Health Canada emphasizes that

wireless devices, when used according to safety guidelines, are not likely to cause

adverse health effects (Health Canada). They encourage the public to adopt safety

measures, such as using hands-free devices and limiting children's screen time.

Experts in the field who have done research for a long time and know what they

are talking about as well as researchers urge caution in using wireless devices,

especially for vulnerable populations like children and pregnant women (Globe and Mail

article). They argue that more research is needed to understand potential long-term

health effects.

Stakeholders in the telecommunication industry agree that wireless technology

is safe and has undergone extreme precautions of testing and regulatory approval. They

also try to only talk about how there is all this economic growth and how it helps society
and progress . The internet is being promoted by certain companies and as well as

mainstream media as it helps them control you (Pew Research Center. (2019, October

28))

Environmental groups as well as many activists and the general population that

relies on the environment show concerns about the impact of wireless fixtures that are

used in everyday life such as cell phone towers, on wildlife and ecosystems. They call

for more environmental assessments in the deployment of 5G technology. This is

proven in( Safety of cell phone towers and 5G technology.)

Individual consumers hold diverse opinions, with some advocating for safer

usage practices and others believing that the benefits of wireless technology outweigh

potential risks. The telecommunication industry also plays a significant role in driving

economic growth, creating jobs, and fostering innovation through wireless technology.

In conclusion, my opinion is that we should approach wireless technology with

caution, especially when it comes to our health and the environment. By taking some

things for granted and improving are actions surrounding tech we can accomplish

greatness, we can continue to enjoy the benefits of wireless technology while being well

being . Let's be responsible users and make sure that progress doesn't come at the cost

of our health.
