2. What is the economic advantage of people in the film production industry? Explain.
The film and television industries contribute to a thriving creative economy by employing
people from all walks of life and with a diverse variety of skills and talents. When a film or
television show is shot on location, it creates jobs, generates revenue, and contributes to the
development of infrastructure in the area, directly improving the local economy. Marvel's Black
Panther, for example, employed over 3,100 Georgia residents and paid out more than $26.5
million in compensation, while 20th Century Fox's blockbuster television series This Is Us
generated more than $61.5 million to the California economy. Both Oscar-nominated films, The
Post and The Greatest Showman, contributed more than $108 million to the state's economy.
A thriving creative economy is the bedrock of a thriving national economy, and it all starts with
a story.
