1.1 Speed

Speed is a scalar quantity

average speed(s) = total distance(m) / total time taken

(s)

1.2 Vector quantities

Quantities with magnitude and direction which follow the

vector law of addition

examples : displacement , velocity , acceleration

vector additions and subtractions go like A + B = A +

(-B)

1.3 Scalar quantities

quantities with only magnitude

examples : speed , distance , time

1.4 Graphs

if the graph is curved then tangent should be used to

derive the average velocity

to derive the instantaneous speed the function of the

graph should be derived

1.5 Vector Diagrams

Parllelogram law

Chapter 1: Kinematics 2
use cosine rule in the parllelogram law to calculate
the angle to be found

A²  = B² + C²  - 2BC x cosA

triangle law

for 90 degrees use Pythagoras theorem

for no given scale use protractor and your own derived

scale for example: 1cm = 10N
