1. In the space provided, draw an object that best symbolizes your community. Share
your drawing with your group and discuss the similarities and differences of your
communities.

2. Explain how you illustrated your community.

As for me, I choose the tree as to how I will be describing my community for the reason
that a tree demonstrates a single stem or trunk and branches that support leaves. As to
what I have observed, each entity in my community is very engaged in helping each other
and as you can see beneath the ground, a tree has a root system that acts as an anchor
somehow a hope that someday our community will be known by everyone and stores the
water and nutrients the plant needs to grow. One of the ways we distinguish trees from
other plants is their thick and rigid ligneous tissues which we know as wood and yet are
firm and can withstand any disturbance that may arise.

3. What cluster in the HELPS program does your degree belong to? What are the
competencies of your degree program that can be shared to the community?
The Hospitality and Tourism cluster, the competencies of my degree program that can
be shared with the community is by empowering local communities, promoting
sustainable development, and fostering cultural exchange, local and community-based
tourism has the potential to create a more equitable and sustainable tourism industry
that benefits both visitors and residents. Also, it's an easy way to learn about the culture
and traditions of a place. Besides, for many areas, tourism is their main source of income.
4. Journal Writing
What is lacking in your community that you think you can help with when you get your
bachelor’s degree?
Personally, as to what I have observed in my community, I think the scarce part of my
society is that many individuals don’t know how to promote tolerance between people as
they learn and better understand each other’s culture. Moreover, if I get the degree I will
promote it also by promoting small-scale tolerance and working with local businesses,
tourism can create jobs and generate income for the community. This economic benefit
can help improve the standard of living for residents and provide long-term economic
sustainability.
