The impact of digital transformation on people management after covid-19 pandemic


outbreak.

Introduction

Problem Background:

The covid-19 changed the world in the early 2020 leading to massive shutdowns causing
the economy to dramatically be affected and worsened the working conditions, although the
global economy has faced many decades of recession and crisis; the covid pandemic led the
digital technologies and introduced them among all areas of the human functions,

A very strict precautions and human isolation, moreover nationwide lockdown and closure
of boarders between countries worldwide, caused companies to be forced to approach new
options of working at home, leading their workforce performance remotely and applying
digital transformation techniques and tools to maintain and monitor employee performance,
thus a large population exclusively have integrated existing digital technologies throughout
their daily work routines and tasks to overcome the effect triggered by the crises . (Nagel,
2020)

“What seemed like a healthcare crisis in the early days of the pandemic actually turned into
a [catalyst for] business transformation very quickly,” said Bersin. (ceridian, 2020).

The Purpose of The Study:

The purpose of the study is to focus on the impact of digital transformation on people
management after covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

Variables are:

1. Digital Transformation
Digital transformation is defined as the transformation of the organizational processes,
competencies, innovation techniques to gain competitive advantage and help change
management to gain advantages of digitalization.

Looking to the broad organization dimension that companies new established


competencies frameworks which need agility, people orientation and innovation.

Digitalization can serve establishing end to end customer experience, services


optimization and flexibility of operation, controlling and monitoring innovation
modules.

Moreover, digital transformation helps profit sourcing although all the benefits
accompanying digitalization, there are some complexities like level of legacy system
and process disconnection.

In addition to the technological advancement that has brought significant changes in the
business processes and systems, it reflected on the people management practices.

2.1 Hybrid Workforce Management.

In a research conducted by (C, Veldhoven, & Hansen, 2021) investigated that due to
the covid 19 pandemic hybrid workforce have increased dramatically and they
conducted from their study that this hybrid work force mostly have a positive
instead of negative experiences, moreover the results of their study identified six
factors represent the advantages and disadvantages of the hybrid workforce
experience. (C, Veldhoven, & Hansen, 2021)

2.1.1. “The main advantages of hybrid workforce:

(i) work–life balance,

(ii) improved work efficiency

(iii) greater work control.

(iv) home office constraints

(v) work uncertainties
