Here is the modification I made to the finish ­ I don’t like joining and wasn’t a fan of the 
pointy look. 

Row 1: Beginning row shell, ​ skip next ch 3 space, (ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space) 5 times, 
ch 3, shell in next shell, shell in next shell​
. Repeat between * 5 more times (for large 
shawl). Shell in next shell (3 in a row – these three make the point). Repeat between * 6 
times, making only one shell on the final repeat, turn  

Row 2: Beginning row shell, ​ skip next ch 3 space, (ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space) 4 times, 
ch 3, shell in next shell, ch 1, shell in next shell​
. Repeat between * 5 more times. Ch 1, 
shell in next shell. Repeat between * 6 times, making only one shell on the final repeat, 
turn  

Row 3: Beginning row shell, ​ skip next ch 3 space, (ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space) 3 times, 
ch 3, shell in next shell, ch 3, shell in next shell​
. Repeat between * 5 more times. Ch 3, 
shell in next shell. Repeat between * 6 times, making only one shell on the final repeat, 
turn  

Row 4: Beginning row shell, ​
skip next ch 3 space, (ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space) 2 times,

shell in next shell, ch 1, DC ch 1 DC in ch 3 space, ch 1, shell in next shell.​
 Repeat 
between * 5 more times. Ch 1, DC ch 1 DC in ch 3 space, ch 1, shell in next shell. Repeat 
between * 6 times, making only one shell on the final repeat, turn  

Row 5: Beginning row shell, ​ skip next ch 3 space, ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space, ch 3, shell 
in next shell, skip next ch 1 space, ch 3, 2 DC ch 2 2 DC in ch 1 space, ch 3, shell in next 
shell​
. Repeat between * 5 more times. Skip next ch 1 space, ch 3, 2 DC ch 2 2 DC in ch 
1 space, ch 3, shell in next shell. Repeat between * 6 times, making only one shell on 
the final repeat, turn.  

Row 6: Beginning row shell, ch 2, skip next 2 ch 3 spaces, shell in next shell, ch 3, 8 DC

Row 7: Beginning row shell, ​shell in next shell, ch 3, DC in the next DC, ch 1, DC in the 
next 7 DC’s (total of 8 DCs), ch 3, shell in next shell.​
 Repeat between * 5 more times. Ch 
3, DC in the next DC, ch 1, DC in the next 7 DC’s, ch 3, shell in next shell. Repeat 
between * 6 times, making only one shell on the final repeat, turn  

Row 8: Skip first dc, ss in next 2 dc and in ch 2 space, ch 3, 2 dc in same space, ​
ch 2, 3

in next ch 2 space, ch 3, DC2tog in DC and ch1 space, ch 2 7 times, DC2tog in last ch1 
space and DC, ch 3, 3 DC in next ch 2 space​ . Repeat between * 5 more times except 
make shell in shell at point. Ch 3, DC2tog in DC and ch1 space ­7 times, DC2tog in last 
ch1 space and DC, ch 3, 3 DC in next ch 2 space. Repeat between * 6 times, except just 
make the 3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC on the final repeat, turn  

Row 9: Beginning row shell, @ ch 3, sc in DC2tog, HDC, DC, HDC in each ch 2 space 7 
times, sc in last DC2tog, ch 3, shell in next ch 2 space @. Repeat between @ 5 more 
times. Ch 3,sc in DC2tog, HDC, DC, HDC in each ch 2 space 7 times, sc in last DC2tog, 
ch 3, shell in next ch 2 space. Repeat between @ 6 times. Finish. Weave in ends.
