MADHURĀŚHṬAKAM

adharaṃ madhuraṃ vadanaṃ madhuraṃ

nayanaṃ madhuraṃ hasitaṃ madhuram |
hṛdayaṃ madhuraṃ gamanaṃ madhuraṃ
madhurādhipaterakhilaṃ madhuram ‖ 1 ‖

அதரம் மதுரம் வதனம் மதுரம்

னயனம் மதுரம் ஹஸிதம் மதுரம் |
ஹ்றுதயம் மதுரம் கமனம் மதுரம்
மதுராதிபததரகிலம் மதுரம் || 1 ||
His lips are sweet, His face is sweet,
His eyes are sweet, His smile is sweet,
His loving heart is sweet, His gait (walk) is sweet,
Everything is completely sweet about the Lord of
Sweetness.
vachanaṃ madhuraṃ charitaṃ madhuraṃ
vasanaṃ madhuraṃ valitaṃ madhuraṃ |
chalitaṃ madhuraṃ bhramitaṃ madhuraṃ
madhurādhipaterakhilaṃ madhuram ‖ 2 ‖

வசனம் மதுரம் சரிதம் மதுரம்

வஸனம் மதுரம் வலிதம் மதுரம் |
சலிதம் மதுரம் ப்ரமிதம் மதுரம்
மதுராதிபததரகிலம் மதுரம் || 2 ||
His words are sweet, His character is sweet,
His dress (garment) is sweet, His posture is sweet,
His movements are sweet, His wandering (roaming)
is sweet,
Everything is completely sweet about the Lord of
Sweetness.
veṇu-rmadhuro reṇu-rmadhuraḥ
pāṇi-rmadhuraḥ pādau madhurau |
nṛtyaṃ madhuraṃ sakhyaṃ madhuraṃ
madhurādhipaterakhilaṃ madhuram ‖ 3 ‖

தவணு-ர்மதுதரா தரணு-ர்மதுரஃ
பாணி-ர்மதுரஃ பாததௌ மதுதரௌ |
ன்றுத்யம் மதுரம் ஸக்யம் மதுரம்
மதுராதிபததரகிலம் மதுரம் || 3 ||
His flute-playing is sweet, His foot-dust is sweet,
His hands are sweet, His feet are sweet,
His dancing is sweet, His friendship is sweet,
Everything is completely sweet about the Lord of
Sweetness.
gītaṃ madhuraṃ pītaṃ madhuraṃ
bhuktaṃ madhuraṃ suptaṃ madhuraṃ |
rūpaṃ madhuraṃ tilakaṃ madhuraṃ
madhurādhipaterakhilaṃ madhuram ‖ 4 ‖

கீ தம் மதுரம் பீதம் மதுரம்

புக்தம் மதுரம் ஸுப்தம் மதுரம் |
ரூபம் மதுரம் திலகம் மதுரம்
மதுராதிபததரகிலம் மதுரம் || 4 ||
His song is sweet, His drinking is sweet,
His eating is sweet, His sleeping is sweet,
His beautiful form is sweet, His Tilaka (mark on
the forehead) is sweet,
Everything is completely sweet about the Lord of
Sweetness.
karaṇaṃ madhuraṃ taraṇaṃ madhuraṃ

vamitaṃ madhuraṃ śamitaṃ madhuraṃ

கரணம் மதுரம் தரணம் மதுரம்

ஹரணம் மதுரம் ஸ்மரணம் மதுரம் |
வமிதம் மதுரம் ஶமிதம் மதுரம்
மதுராதிபததரகிலம் மதுரம் || 5 ||
His deeds (activities) are sweet, His conquest
(liberating) is sweet,
His thieving (stealing) is sweet, His love-sports are
sweet,
His oblations (offerings) are sweet, His
countenance is sweet,
Everything is completely sweet about the Lord of
Sweetness.
guñjā madhurā mālā madhurā
yamunā madhurā vīchī madhurā |
salilaṃ madhuraṃ kamalaṃ madhuraṃ
madhurādhipaterakhilaṃ madhuram ‖ 6 ‖

குஞ்ஜா மதுரா மாலா மதுரா

யமுனா மதுரா வசீீ மதுரா |
ஸலிலம் மதுரம் கமலம் மதுரம்
மதுராதிபததரகிலம் மதுரம் || 6 ||
His gunja-berry necklace is sweet, His flower garland is
sweet,
sweet is the Yamuna river, and sweet are her rippling
waves,
her water is sweet, and sweet are the lotus flowers also,
Everything is completely sweet about the Lord of
Sweetness.
gopī madhurā līlā madhurā
yuktaṃ madhuraṃ muktaṃ madhuraṃ |
dṛśhṭaṃ madhuraṃ śiśhṭaṃ madhuraṃ
madhurādhipaterakhilaṃ madhuram ‖ 7 ‖

தகாபீ மதுரா லீலா மதுரா

யுக்தம் மதுரம் முக்தம் மதுரம் |
த்றுஷ்டம் மதுரம் ஶிஷ்டம் மதுரம்
மதுராதிபததரகிலம் மதுரம் || 7 ||
His gopis (cowherd girlfriends) are sweet, His
pastimes (plays) are sweet,
His union (meeting him) is sweet, His deliverance
(rescue) is sweet,
His sidelong glances are sweet, His courtesy
(etiquette) is sweet,
Everything is completely sweet about the Lord of
Sweetness.
gopā madhurā gāvo madhurā
yaśhṭi rmadhurā sṛśhṭi rmadhurā |
dalitaṃ madhuraṃ phalitaṃ madhuraṃ
madhurādhipaterakhilaṃ madhuram ‖ 8 ‖

தகாபா மதுரா காதவா மதுரா

யஷ்டி ர்மதுரா ஸ்றுஷ்டி ர்மதுரா |
தலிதம் மதுரம் பலிதம் மதுரம்
மதுராதிபததரகிலம் மதுரம் || 8 ||
His gopis (cowherd boyfriends) are sweet, His cows are
sweet,
His cane (herding-stick) is sweet, His creation is sweet,
His victory (trampling) is sweet, His accomplishment
(fruition) is sweet,
Everything is completely sweet about the Lord of
Sweetness.
