JIS JAPANESE INDUSTRIAL STANDARD Translated and Pu Japanese Standards JIS B 1189 2s (JFRD Hexagon flange bolts er : JIS B 1189: 2008 (E) PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT les B 1189: 2008 Foreword ‘This translation has been made based on the original Japanese Industrial Standard revised by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry through deliberations at the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee, as the result of proposal for revision of Japanese Industrial Standard submitted by The Japan Research Institute for Serew Threads and Fasteners (JFRI)/ Japanese Standards Association (JSA) with the draft being attached, based on the provision of Article 12 Clause 1 of the Industrial Standard- ization Law applicable to the case of revision by the provision of Article 14. Consequently JIS B 1189 : 1999 is replaced with this Standard. In order to conform to the International Standard, this revision has been prepared based on I8O 1071 : 1999 Hexagon bolts with flange—Small series—Product grade A and ISO 15072: 1999 Hexagon bolts with flange with metric fine pitch thread—Small series—Produet grade A Attention is drawn to the possibility that some parts of this Standard may conflict with a patent right, application for a patent after opening to the public, utility model right or application for registration of utility model after opening to the public which have technical properties. The relevant Minister and the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee are not responsible for identifying the patent right, application for a patent after opening to the public, utility model right or application for registration of utility model after opening to the public which have the said technical properties. Portions given sidelines or dotted underlines are the matters not stated in the original International Standards. A list of modification with the explanations is given in annex 2 (informative). 1 Scope This Standard specifies the characteristics of hexagon bolts with flange (hereafter referred to as “bolts”). If, in special cases, specifications other than those listed in this Standard are required, they should be selected from existing standards, for example JIS B 0205-2, JIS B 0209-2, JIS B 1009, JIS B 1051 and JIS B 1054-1. NOTES 1 Flanges based on ISO 15071 and ISO 15072 are specified in the text, and bolts not based on those are specified in annex 1. 2 The International Standards corresponding to this Standard are as follows. In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21. 180 15071: 1999 Hexagon bolts with flange—Small series—Product grade A (MOD) ISO 15072: 1999 Hexagon bolts with flange with metric fine pitch thread—Small series—Product grade A (MOD) 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, constitute provisions of this Standard. Gauge A shall be placed over the hexagon and shall seat on the flange. Gauge B shall be placed on the top of the head normal to the bolt axis. The two gauges shall not be in contact. A.2 Recommended method for gauging of flange thickness (see annex A fig- ure 1 and annex A table 1) Gauge C is a flat feeler or ring gauge. It is used to prove that the flange thickness at the junction of the gauge with the hexagon por- tion is equal to or greater than specified values.
