CHAPTER THREE

METHODOLOGY

This chapter focuses on the methodology of the study. The chapter consists of several
sections
3.1 STUDY DESIGN:-

This study adopts descriptive design, through studying past events. The Descriptive design
aims to accurately and systematically describe a population, situation.
3.2 TARGED POPULATION:-
We investigate the study of Giardia infection on young children at banadir hospital in
Mogadishu. where the hospital is suitable for reserving patients though there are 5 doctors
and 6 public healthy and 10 patients and 15 Nurses in the hospital Stratified sampling.
3.3 STUDY AREA :-
Our accessible population of the study will be some selected health workers, who seem to be
related to the field. The research will be carried out at Banadir Hospital, where the hospital is
suitable for reserving patients.
3.4 STUDY PERIOD:-
This study was conducted from March in 2022 to January in 2023.
3.5 SAMPLE SIZE :-
The researchers used Solvent’s formula to calculate the sample size, with ratio 5%.
N Stands for the target population.
n : Stands for the sample size.
R : Stands for ratio.
n = N / 1+N R^2
n= 36/1+36 * (𝟎.𝟎𝟓)^2 = 36/ 1.09 = 33. So that the sample size will be 40.
Bandar Target Population Sample size
Hospital

Doctor 5 6
Nurse 15 10
Public health 6 7
Patients 10 10
Total 36 33

3.6 SAMPLING PROCEDURE:-

The sample method will be stratified sampling a stratified sampling will be selected to collect
information from accessible population from Banadir Hospital.
3.7 SELECTION CRITERIA :-
3.7.1 Inclusion
All young children infected with Giardia who attended at selected health centers which are
Banadir Maternity & Children Hospital.
3.7.2 Exclusion
Young children who they were not attended at all selected health center’s which are Banadir
Maternity & Children Hospital.
3.8 RESEACH INSTRUMENTS & TOOLS:-
Questionnaire will be suitable instrument to obtain information needed can easily described
in writing. Since the sample size is fairly large and there is limited time, questionnaire
considered ideal for collecting such data. This studies because it is effective, less cost and
easily accessible for collecting information from data.
3.9 DATA ANALYSIS:-
Data generated from this research were entered and analyzed using the Statistical Package for
Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 software. The items were first coded as “1” good
outcome and “0” poor outcome. Then, the data were analyzed using appropriate descriptive
statistics, and summarized by frequency, percentage, and mean. After that, the analyzed data
will interpret into understandable and systematic manner.
3.6 RESEARCH QUALITY CONTROL
3.6.1 Validity
Validity refers to the extent to which data collection method accurately measures what it will
intend to measure or to the extent to which research findings are about what They are claimed
to be about (Oso & onen, 2008).Validity of the data collection instruments will done whit the
help of an expert (the research supervisor) to edit the questionnaire and the interview guide
The researcher forwarded the structured questionnaire to supervisor who is an expert in the
area covered by the research for editing an reviewing. The validity is generally gained from
the type of instrument being used.
3.6.2 Reliability
The reliability of the research instruments concerns with the degree to which the research
instrument will give the same result under similar conditions To ensure that the data is
reliable a standard of test re-test exercise will done before actually using it.(Joppe, 2000)
Defines reliability as the extent to which results are consistent over time and an accurate
representation of the total population under study is referred to as reliability and if the results
of a study can be reproduced under a similar methodology, then the research instrument is
consider reliable. Needless to say, validity and reliability are very indispensable for this
research to be accurate.
3.9 ETHICAL CONSIDERATION:
Ethical considerations of confidentiality and privacy address. A concerted and conscious
effort make at all times to support this promise. A guarantee will be given to the respondents
that their names will not be revealed in the research report. In order to ensure the success of
the research, directors will link to subordinates in such a manner that each subordinates’
response remained anonymous apart from being linked to a particular directors.
