CONTAINMENT - UNKNOWN REGIONS

In the Unknown Regions, a research team collected samples of a virus from a once civilized but now
lifeless planet in the Unknown Regions designated X-78. During their return journey, the virus broke
containment, killing the organic crew rapidly. Before they died they Dubbed the Virus "Midiphage" and
noticed that it seemed to effect Force Users of any level before non-sensitive people. Their vessel now
hangs adrift and silent but for the distress beacon it has been transmitting for decades.

OPERATIONAL SUMMARY
Containment is written as a point-crawl where the PCs may breach the ship at any location and
progress through in any order as they race against the Threat Clock.
The virus has destroyed the Living Force here, Force-sensitives aboard the ship suffer a -1 to all Use
Force Attempts.

Ensuring this research is never found is in the best interest of the galaxy. Navigational logs from the
Unknown Regions might be extremely valuable to the right buyer.

SCENES AND DISCOVERABLE CLUES

EXTERIOR
The ship hangs lifelessly in the void, emitting minimal power signatures. Hailing the ship yields only
an automated response containing a biohazard quarantine warning and a prompt to transmit a
clearance code.

• No life signs aboard the ship. The ship has no weapons.

• Emergency lighting, gravity, doors, and terminals are the only powered systems. All other
systems are functional but disabled.
• Force-sensitives feel not just an empty ship but an apparent void in the Force.

CARGO HOLD
The soft red glow of emergency running lights belies the frigid air temperature in the hold. Hundreds of
small cargo crates are stacked neatly around the perimeter of the bay. Orderly rows of body bags line
the spotless floor.

• All corpses are desiccated and decayed far more than they should be. Most show no signs of
physical trauma.
• Medical charts on the body bags indicate symptoms of lethargy and loss of appetite before
death within days.
• Cargo Manifest shows presence of security droids assigned to the Bridge and of biological
samples from X-78 stored in the Research Lab.

RESEARCH LAB
A heap of small datapads cluttering the central table contrasts with the otherwise rigidly organized
laboratory. Costly scientific equipment and terminals lay dormant. A video loops on a large display
monitor, its flickering blue glow combining with the red emergency lighting to dance unsettling
shadows around the room.

• Video shows virus infecting Cells.

• Logs contain a massive, unintelligible data store from a research facility on X-78.
• All research reports were transmitted to the Communications terminal on the Bridge.
• Datapads show medical treatment records of crew and indicate Cargo Hold was being used as
the morgue.

CREW QUARTERS
The rooms are lined with dozens of crowded bunk beds. The majority of the beds appear freshly made
and are adorned with pictures, trinkets, and handwritten notes. Even the ship seems afraid to disturb
the oppressive silence in this mournful place.

• Researcher's Code Cylinder provides access to Research Lab and its terminals.
• All escape pods have been jettisoned.
• A few corpses near the escape pods show signs of physical damage and blaster wounds

BRIDGE
Two splayed, crushed skeletons greet anyone entering the Bridge. Two more sit slumped in chairs at the
helm, arms draped over control panels. Blaster burns in the chairs and in the controls elucidate their
fate.

• Captain's Code Cylinder provides access to all doors and all terminals on the Bridge.
• Navicomputer contains detailed navigation logs of this sector of the Unknown Regions.
• Communications log shows that research reports were transmitted up the chain of command

THREAT CLOCK
The GM may advance the Threat Clock's Stage whenever they feel it is dramatically appropriate.
Suggested: Any unauthorized access or activity within the ship results in a Threat Token . As does
failing any attempt listed in the Skill Check Table. Whenever you have as many Tokens as you do
Players Raise the Threat Clock Stage by one.
Stage Effect
1 All blast doors are closed and sealed.
2 Alarms sound. Security droids are dispatched to locate and eliminate the intruders.
(Use the Stats for a Combat Droid pg 131 of the Star Wars Companion, One Droid per Player)
3 Security droids locate and engage PCs with lethal force. (Use the Stats for the Large Security
Droid pg 132 of the Star Wars Companion, One Droid per Player)
4 Self-destruct initiated. Reactor overload imminent. Extreme heat adds -1 to all checks.
5 Gravity disabled.
6 The ship is considered Wrecked. Player Characters must roll the lower of their Smarts or
Agility to evacuate. Those who fail go down with the ship.
