Chapter 1
Understanding Philosophy by Doing
It

Lesson 1
The Holistic Perspective: The
Philosopher’s Way

The lesson focuses on the elements of life work together in order to

create a unified, interconnected whole. This perspective is particularly
relevant when looking at how the aspects of our lives intervene. The
lesson also emphasizes the importance of the interrelatedness of all
aspects of life. This way of thinking encourage people to think the
complexity of life and to look of life and circumstances as a whole,
rather than isolated and fragmented pieces.

The lesson is very helpful in reminding us of the importance of

considering all aspects of our lives in making decision. It is not
enough to simply focuses on one specific aspect but instead we must
take into account the whole. Overall, the lesson is a great reminder of
how we should approach our lives.
Lesson 2

What it Means to be a Philosopher

The lesson dealt with what it means to be a
philosopher. It discussed how the task of a
philosopher is to make sense of the world, not just to
develop or argue a simple point of view. The lesson
concluded by stressing the importance of doing an
honest philosophical inquiry by thinking independent
Ly and challenging one’s own thought process. Being
a philosopher is more than just a thinker, it’s being a
critical thinker. Ultimately, philosophers aim to
evaluate their beliefs and arguments and make a
reasoned conclusion.

The lesson taught me that Philosophy is so much

more than just a study of abstract concepts in a
textbooks. It is about looking at the world around us
and trying to understand the deeper meaning brhind
things.
Lesson 3

What Makes a Question

Philosophical
The lesson had a great discussion about the various
characteristic of a philosophical question.s. a
philosophical question can be anything that is related
to reasoning and ethics on general knowledge. It
often goes beyond what is accepted or known, it is a
question that cannot be answered definitely.
Philosophical questions are complex, open-ended
and often require creative thinking in order to come up
in a more meaningful answer. It also requires an
understanding of the underlying assumptions or
beliefs of the person by asking a questions.
What I understand in this lesson is that, it makes a
question philosophical when it involves seeking out
deeper truth about life, society and the world around
us. It is open[ended meaning that they have no clear
answer, so the answer is open for interpretation.
Chapter 2

Truth and Philosophy

Lesson 1

The Domains of Truth

The lesson was an introduction to the domains of
truth. It discussed philosophy and religion as two
domain as well as science. It covered some of the
basic ideas of each domains. It covered how to
distinguish between facts, opinions and lies.

The lesson provided thorough and well-rounded look

at the complexity of various aspects of truth. I found
the lesson interesting because it enlighten me as it
provided insights into how these domain can be
useful in everyday life. It also helped me to better
conceptualize how each domain work and can be
helpful in determining the truth.
Lesson 2

Truth and Opinion

In this lesson, I have learned about the difference
between the truth and opinion. Truth is a statement
that is based on facts and can be proven, while
opinion is based on personal beliefs and feelings and
cannot be proven. It also discusses how to identify the
truth from opinion, and how to use critical thinking to
evaluate both.

I enjoyed this lesson because it was a reminder that

there is a difference between this two. It was a great
experience to think through how other people may
interpret a situation differently than I do. By having a
better understanding I can make sure that my thinking
is based on facts and that my opinion came from
evidence-based sources. Overall, it was a great
lesson and one that I will continue to draw upon in
everyday life.
Lesson 3

Methods of Philosophizing

The lesson on the methods of philosophizing was

interesting and thought-provoking. I learned about
different ways of approaching and I also learned
about the importance of good reasoning and
argumentation when conducting a philosophical
investigation. I now have a better understanding of
these different approaches that can be taken when
studying a philosophical problem and can feel more
confident when engaging in a philosophical
discussion.

It gave me an insight into the range of method I can

use. Overall, this lesson was a very helpful and gave
me a better idea of what it means to “philosophize”.
Chapter 3

The Human Person as an Embodied Spirit

Lesson 1

The Body as Limitation and Transcendence

The lesson was interesting it highlighted the dichotomy

between our physical restraints and the potential for
transformation and exploration of personal power. The body
is the primary vessel and enable us to interact in the world. It
limits us in some ways due to physical restrictions. The body
can also be seen as a source of transcendence and a
medium for self-expression. It can become a tool for
accessing our own inner power, our bodies can be a way to
transcend and break through the limitations.

This lesson for me aims to understand how our physical

body affect our experiences, as well as how we can
transcend our physical limitation to create a more meaningful
connection to ourselves and the universe. This lesson is
about understanding who we are, why we are here and how
our bodies related to both our inner and outer world.
Lesson 2

The Human Person as an Embodied Spirit:

Ancient and Contemporary Thought

This lesson provided an insight into how the concept of an

embodied spirit has been viewed fro ancient to modern
times. It was interesting to learn about different views of the
soul and how each has been shaped by culture and faith. It
also emphasized the importance of understanding embodied
spirit in order to gain a full sense of understanding about our
world and ourselves. The lesson looked at the concept of the
soul, including its purpose and roles in human experience.
The spiritual life and the concept of being steward of the
body and soul were also discussed.

Overall, this lesson has given me more insight into the

history and philosophy of the human person. By looking at
different cultural perspective on the body and soul, I was
able to better understand individual beliefs and practices
surrounding this topic.
Chapter 4

The Human Person in his/her Environment

Lesson 1

Approsches to Understanding the Relationship of

the Human Person with the Environment

The lesson provide an interesting overview of the various

ways that people have addressed the relationship between
human beings and their environment. It highlighted the
complex and varied relationship of the two, with some
approaches emphasizing the importance of understanding
the physical and ecological aspects of the environment,
while others emphasizing the cultural dimensions. It also
looks at the impact of each approach and how they have an
influence on the behavior of individuals.

Overall, it was helpful in providing an understanding of the

various ways humans interact with the environment and the
importance of understanding the consequences of these
interactions.
Chapter 5

Freedom

Lesson 1

The meaning of Freedom

The meaning of freedom was a very interesting
lesson that made me think about it in a different way.
The lesson taught me how freedom is not something
that can be easily defined and that there are many
different interpretations of freedom. This lesson
discussed that the freedom is more than just the
absence of oppression, as it involves actively
engaging with the world and making choices for
oneself. It was a reminder that freedom is a complex
idea and that different people can interpret it
differently depending on their circumstances. This is a
valuable opportunity to reflect on the complexity of
freedom and how it is often taken for granted,
