Recall of facts and information from one card is
challenged by a distraction on a second card.

Set Up:
• Cut the individual FACT cards apart.
• Cut the individual CHALLENGE cards apart.
• Stack the FACT cards in one pile, and the CHALLENGE
cards in another pile.
Game Play:
1. Place the FACT cards to one side in front of the players.
2. Place the CHALLENGE cards in a pile next to the FACT
cards in front of the players.
3. The player takes the top card from the FACT pile, reads it
aloud, then hands the card to the therapist.
4. The same player then takes the top card from the
CHALLENGE pile, reads it aloud, then performs the
actions or answers the question on the card.
5. Without re-reading the initial FACT card, the player then
attempts to recall what was on the FACT card.

PRO TIPS:
• Pages can be printed in color, in black and white, or printed on
colored paper.
• Print on cardstock or thicker paper for durability.
• After cutting the cards apart, laminate for extended use.
• Increase the challenge by playing in a noisy room.
• Decrease the challenge by playing only with the FACT cards.
• Document the number correct with and without distractions.
• Document length of time delay from initial reading of the FACT
card to recall of the information.
• Document the number and type of cues needed for recall of the
information.

Suggestions for the blank cards:


room number, scheduled events, medication names/schedules,
family names, therapist names, hip or back precautions, weight
bearing status.
