a Message


Goal: When asked to deliver a message to an adult, the student will deliver the message correctly.
Correct is defined as using correct sentence structure, delivering the exact message, attending by
making eye contact with the recipient, standing, and walking to and from recipient appropriately.

Instructional Procedure: Stand the student at a distance from the recipient of the message and
present the SD: “Go tell ____”, (exp: “Go tell Mrs. ---- that you’re favorite food is _____”, or “Go tell
____that you want to play_____” etc). If the student correctly delivers the message, provide social
praise and a tangible (provided by the recipient). When the student errors, prompt using a verbal
model, and repeat the trial until the student is able to respond to the SD independently. Fade
prompts over subsequent teaching opportunities. Differentially reinforce responses demonstrated
with the lowest level of prompting.

9. Asks a question and waits for a response

Mastery Criteria: 80% for two consecutive sessions
