MRI ORBITS WITH CONTRAST

CLINICAL DATA:
Biopsy proven case of fibrous tumor of right eye.
Complaining of proptosis of right eye, status pre-treatment.

PROTOCOL: Multiplanar multisequential images were acquired through the brain using usual
departmental protocols. Pre and post contrast T1w axial and coronal Fat Sat images through orbits were
obtained.

FINDINGS:
 A large abnormal signal intensity mass lesion is seen involving intraconal compartment of right
globe in its lateral part. Anteriorly, it is pushing the eyeball resulting in its proptosis.
Posteriorly, it is reaching up to the orbital apex. Medially, it is displacing the optic nerve
toward the contralateral side. Laterally, it is resulting in displacement of lateral rectus muscle.
It is appearing heterogeneously hypointense on T1 and T2w images and is showing
heterogeneous post contrast enhancement. It is measuring 3.4 x 2.5 x 3.1 cm (AP x TS x CC).
 Left orbit and globe appear unremarkable for any mass and are symmetrically normal in size; ocular
contents show normal signal characteristics.
 Retro-orbital fat appears normal on left side and well suppressed on Fat Sat images.
 Optic nerve has normal course and caliber on left side.
 Extra-ocular muscles are normally positioned and display normal course and width on left side.

CONCLUSION:
 Above mentioned imaging findings are due to already biopsy proven case of fibrous tumor of right
eye with extensions as detailed.
 Oncological consultation is advised.
