CHAPTER 1

Lasya! Amrita! Jaj! Shouted Raksha, Seriously, where did you idiots disappear
to? You still have to finish the party menu, and S.V has brought the basement layout. We need to figure out what goes where. Sriraksha Ragavan could have a tiny, soft and timid voice, but when the need came she could shout louder than an elephant. But she wasnt the only one who could shout louder than an elephant. RAKSHA! Seriously, shout louder and this tiny shack will collapse Came the angry retort from Amrita. Hey! Dont insult our Head Quarters! came another angry retort from Lasya , who had just then appeared from a small room on a side, holding a stack of papers. The party menu is finished! came a chirpy voice from behind Lasya. It belonged to Jaj, and it contained the smug satisfaction of a job well done. See? She was smirking, Its done now, so stop shouting! For that, Jaj earned an eye roll from all of them, but she only smirked. If you people are done shouting, then I guess we can look at the basement layout Said S.V. She then laid out a black card board on their work desk, the layout of the basement in Ranjanas house. Ranjana one of their friends, in whose house the party was going to take place. The Party. The party that took place every year, to honour the end of one academic year, and welcome a new one. It was a party every high school student in Kumarans dreamed of attending, and every party planner dreamed of planning. This year, it was being planned by this particular clique, which included Amrita, Lasya, S.V, Jaj, Chaithrali, Divya, and Sriraksha. Obviously, they had had the necessary requirements for being the planners, which were: a) The party planner(s) must have hosted at least two parties. b) They should have planned at least five parties, in which three of them should have been total successes. c) The parties hosted should have at least six members of the Student body committee attending. d) They should have the necessary resources and contacts to supply alcohol(Premium quality) to those attending the party. The last rule was kind of an unspoken one, but was acknowledged throughout the high school. If all these criteria were fulfilled, then the planners were considered. And then, through a vote, the decision was made as to who was going to plan the party . and this year, it had not been a surprise when this group of seven eleventh standard party-planning goddesses had been given the duty of planning The Party.

Since the food should be light, tasty and greasy, we have researched menus of various restraunts, and come up with this master piece.. Said Lasya. She, together with amrita and Jaj were in charge of the menu for the party. So, we have potato wedges, fries, chicken club sandwiches, paneer

tikkas, Gobi Manchurian, single slice pizzas and Quiches. Said Jaj. Awesomeyummymy mouth is watering already! said Raksha. Raksha and Jaj were the foodies of the group, and ironically, the thinnest. The drinks? asked Divya, who, along with Chaithrali was in charge of the guest lists and invites. S.V was incharge of the decorations, and Raksha, the music. Lasya, Jaj and Amrita, were, as you might have guessed already, in charge of the food and the drinks. Well, the basic sodas and slushes, with a dash of vodka, upon request, and only if the person is eighteen.... said Amrita with a wink, and the usual, margaritas, mojitos, martinis, beer.-which she said making a face, as she hated it,and vodka, G & T, etc she finished. Getting alcoholic beverages had never been a problem for them, because Amritas brother had contacts, and also there was always a group of people ready to supply alcohol in exchange for an invite.

The Menus were approved and the caterers called. The drinks were arranged. The basement was cleaned and decorated, which was taken care of by Ranjanas maids, under the supervision of S.V. The music was ready, the band hired. The invites were sent, and confirmations received. All they had to do was wait for the party, which was in three days time. And it was finally ready. The biggest party of the year was planned. S.V, Divya, Jaj, Raksha, Amrita, Chaithrali, Lasya sat in Amritas shed, which they called their headquarters. They were all sipping sodas, as a celebration. Joking, laughing, and generally rejoicing the sprit of summer. For that moment, all was forgotten. All that mattered was that moment which they spent with their newly found friends in the party planning business. And that moment they wanted to absorb in full glory, because moments like these never come back.
