A Lesson from Hercules My Green Family

Unit 15 Unit 16
Listen and read aloud. Check( ) the hard words. Listen and read aloud. Check( ) the hard words.

A man is driving a wagon. My family is green.

Suddenly, it sinks into the mud. We care for the environment.

His horse tries to move forward. We try not to make it dirty.

But one wheel won’t come out of the mud. Today we are going on a picnic.

“I can’t do anything!” the man cries. Dad says, “Let’s use our bikes, not the car.”

He prays, “Help me, Hercules!” This way, we can keep the air clean.

Hercules appears and says, Mom packs lunchboxes.

“Why aren’t you doing anything? I put water bottles and cups in my bag.

Put your shoulder on the wheel and push it!” After the picnic, we bring them back home.

The man does it, and the wagon moves. This way, we don’t make any trash.

“Try before you ask for help!” Hercules scolds. Our actions may look small.

The man nods. But they will help save our earth!

Jane Goodall My Family’s New Year’s Day

Unit 17 Unit 18
Listen and read aloud. Check( ) the hard words. Listen and read aloud. Check( ) the hard words.

There was a young English girl long ago. On New Year’s Day, my family does something special.

Her name was Jane Goodall. We write our New Year’s wishes on paper.
She loved watching animals.
My mom writes, “I want to travel to Spain.
One day, she spent five hours in a henhouse.
I need to save money.”
She watched hens lay eggs.
My dad writes, “I want to be healthier.
She always wanted to live with animals.

Later, her dream came true. I need to exercise every day.”

She lived among chimpanzees in Africa. I write, “I want to learn how to skateboard.
She found out that chimpanzees are like humans. I need to be brave!”
She said, “Chimpanzees have feelings.
We put our pieces of paper into a box.
They also use tools like us!”
We will open it next New Year’s Day.
Now Jane is an old woman.
We hope our wishes come true.
But she still loves animals.

My Aunt Is Sick Amazing Rainforests

Unit 19 Unit 20
Listen and read aloud. Check( ) the hard words. Listen and read aloud. Check( ) the hard words.

My aunt is really sick. Welcome to our rainforest tour.

So today I visited her with my mom. What are rainforests?

My aunt stayed in bed. I should explain about them before we start.

My mom made healthy food for her.
Rainforests are forests in hot, rainy places.
She washed and dried the dishes too.
They have millions of animals and plants.
I cleaned the house.
There are very many, so we can’t count them all.
I also took care of my cousin, Aaron.
These forests are important for humans.
He is only three years old.
Their many trees give out clean air.
I fed him.
They help us breathe.
I helped him take a nap.

I read books to him. I hope we protect these beautiful gifts from nature.

I hope my aunt gets well soon. Now let’s start our tour!
