DTVE – BATCH 3 ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION IN VALUES EDUCATION

Gathered Items on Cognitive-Based Assessments

REFLECTION ON THE ACTIVITY

We were previously given the task by our professor of gathering sample test items that we typically
utilize or have already kept in the test bank. She provided us with different types of exams that we must
complete these are the Constructed Response Assessments – completion items, short answer
questions, and essay questions. While the Multiple Choice, Binary Choice, and Matching Items are part
of the Selected Response Assessment. When it comes to the assessment rule, I didn't think the sample
items I collected would be able to be utilized to verify carefully if they are in line with the objective. Prof.
Bayten showed us how to examine the test questions we had collected to see if they were based on the
objective, starting with the Content Standard, moving through the Performance Standard, and ending
with the learning competencies in the curriculum guide we were using. As a result of what I have
learned, it is essential to first unpack the objectives from the most essential learning competencies in
order to give the type of assessment and instruments/tools that will be used more anchored. And it was
at this point that I also discovered several of the test items we used, such as in examinations, were not
firmly rooted in the learning competencies. Therefore, it is essential to carefully consider the learning
skills' objectives before creating the exam in order to ensure a smooth outcome and the achievement
of the test's ultimate objectives be met.
