Class Features
All the following are features of the profane necromancer prestige class.
Dread Necromancer Abilities: A profane Necromancer adds his or her class level to his or
her dread necromancer level (if any) to determine his or her class based charnel touch,
rebuke undead, negative energy burst, advanced learning, scabrous touch, and enervating
touch.
AC Bonus: The profane necromancer gains an insight bonus to AC equal to 1/2 his or her
character level.
Touch Attack Bonus: The profane necromancer gains an insight bonus to his or her touch
attacks equal to 1/2 his or her character level.
Desecrating Aura (Su): Starting at 1st level, a profane necromancer gives off a 20-foot
radius emanation of utter desecration, imbuing his or her surroundings with negative
energy. This ability works much like a desecrate spell, except that the profane
necromancer’s power is so great that it is treated as the shrine of an evil power. All undead
within 20 feet of the profane necromancer (including the himself) gain a +2 profane bonus
on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws, and +2 hit points per HD. Charisma checks
made to turn undead within this area take a -6 penalty.
A profane necromancer’s desecrating aura cannot be dispelled except by a dispel evil spell
or similar effect. If the effect is dispelled, the profane necromancer can resume it as a free
action on its next turn. Its desecrating aura is suppressed if a profane necromancer enters a
consecrated or hallowed area, but the profane necromancer’s presence also suppresses the
consecrated or hallowed effect for as long as it remains in the area.
Alter Self (Sp): At 1st level, a profane necromancer can cast alter self at will, as a spell-
like ability of the same name. The profane necromancer's caster level equals his or her
character level.
Demilich Body: At 2nd level, a profane necromancer begins his or her journey into
demilichhood. The first symptom is his or her body increases resilience to physical harm. He
or she gains DR 5/-. As the profane necromancer increases in level, this DR increases in
effectiveness, to DR 10/- at 6th level, DR 15/- at 10th level, and DR 20/- at 14th level.
Vorpal weapons, no matter their enhancement bonus, ignore this damage reduction but do
only half damage to a profane necromancer.
Necromantic Power (Ex): At 2nd level, a profane necromancer gain unsurpassed power
over death. When he or she rebukes undead, casts a necromancy spell, or uses a spell-like
ability that mimics a necromancy spell, his or her effective caster level and DC increases.
This bonus is +1 at 2nd level and every five levels there after.
Death Knell (Sp): At 3rd level, a profane necromancer can cast death knell at will, as a
spell-like ability of the same name. The profane necromancer's caster level equals his or her
character level.
Improved Turn Resistance (Ex): At 4th level, a profane necromancer's turn resistance
increases by +4. As the profane necromancer increases in level, it increases in
effectiveness, by +8 at 8th level, and +12 at 12th level.
Minor Necromantic Esoterica (Ex): At 4th level, when a profane necromancer rebukes
undead, casts a necromancy spell, or uses a spell-like ability that mimics a necromancy
spell, undead allies within 60 feet gain turn resistance and a bonus on saves equal to his or
her profane necromancer level for a number of rounds equal to his or her profane
necromancer level.
Enervation (Sp): At 5th level, a profane necromancer can cast enervation at will, as a
spell-like ability of the same name. The profane necromancer's caster level equals his or her
character level.
Resistances of the Demilich (Ex): At 6th level, profane necromancer gains acid
resistance 10, fire resistance 10, and sonic resistance 10. At 12th level these resistances
increase to acid resistance 15, fire resistance 15, and sonic resistance 15.
Create Undead (Sp): At 7th level, a profane necromancer can cast create undead at will,
as a spell-like ability of the same name. The profane necromancer's caster level equals his
or her character level.
Harm (Sp): At 9th level, a profane necromancer can cast harm at will, as a spell-like ability
of the same name. The profane necromancer's caster level equals his or her character level.
Phylactery Transference (Su): At 10th level headbands, belts, rings, cloaks, and other
wearable items kept in close association with the profane necromancer’s phylactery transfer
all their benefits to the profane necromancer no matter how far apart the profane
necromancer and the phylactery are located. The standard limits on types of items utilized
simultaneously still apply.
Create Greater Undead (Sp): At 11th level, a profane necromancer can cast create
greater undead at will, as a spell-like ability of the same name. The profane necromancer's
caster level equals his or her character level.
Major Necromantic Esoterica (Ex): At 12th level, a profane necromancer's limit for
creating and controlling undead with a necromancy spell or a spell-like ability that mimics a
necromancy spell is three times his or her caster level instead of the normal two times
caster level. This limit increases to four times his or her caster level at 16th level.
Astral Projection (Sp): At 13th level, a profane necromancer can cast astral projection at
will, as a spell-like ability of the same name. The profane necromancer's caster level equals
his or her character level.
Zone of Animation (Su): At 14th level, a profane necromancer can use a rebuke or
command undead attempt to animate corpses within range of his or her rebuke or
command attempt. The profane necromancer animates a total number of HD of undead
equal to the number of undead that would be commanded by your result (though he or she
can’t animate more undead than there are available corpses within range). The profane
necromancer can’t animate more undead with any single attempt than the maximum
number he or she can command (including any undead already under his or her command).
These undead are automatically under the profane necromancer's command, though his or
her normal limit of commanded undead still applies. If the corpses are relatively fresh, the
animated undead are zombies. Otherwise, they are skeletons.
Weird (Sp): At 15th level, a profane necromancer can cast weird at will, as a spell-like
ability of the same name. The profane necromancer's caster level equals his or her
character level.
Negative Energy Aura (Su): At 16th level, every undead creature that comes within 15
feet of a profane necromancer is automatically affected as if he or she had rebuked it. This
doesn’t cost a rebuking attempt, and it automatically affects all undead in a 15-foot burst,
but it only rebukes undead with Hit Dice equal to or less than his or her effective cleric level
minus 10 (and automatically commands undead with Hit Dice equal to or less than his or
her effective cleric level minus 20). Just as with normal rebuking, the profane necromancer
can’t affect undead that have total cover relative to him or her.
Demilich Transformation: When the profane necromancer attains 16th level, he or she
undergoes a hideous transformation and becomes a demilich. A profane necromancer need
not pay experience points or gold to create his or her soul gems and he or she need not be
a sorcerer, wizard, or cleric.
