The nature of the provision of personal data is to be considered mandatory. Any refusal
will make it impossible for international students to access the Universitaly platform, the
subsequent academic evaluation procedures, the visa application procedures and the
procedures for applying for a residence permit in Italy.

Processing methods and recipients

The processing of personal data, also provided as part of the online registration procedures on the
Universitaly platform, is handled on the basis of a computerized procedure and on behalf of the

case for matters connected to the issue of residence permits. Each activity indicated will in any
case be aimed at pursuing the purposes of public interest envisaged by art. 6 par. 1, letter e) of EU
Regulation 679/2016 (so-called GDPR) and by art. 2-ter of Legislative Decree 196/2003.

Transfer of personal data to third countries or international organizations

This treatment does not involve the transfer of personal data to third countries or international
organizations.

Period of retention of personal data

In compliance with the principles of lawfulness, purpose limitation and data minimization, pursuant to art.
5 EU Regulation 679/2016 (so-called GDPR) the data will be kept for a period of time not exceeding
that necessary for the achievement of the purposes for which they are collected and processed,
including the selection of international students for access and permanence within the Italian
Higher Education system and related sectors and in any case in compliance with the provisions of
the law. The processing will comply with the security procedures connected to the issuing of visas
for Italy and residence permits in Italy.

In any case, the Administration will guarantee the adoption of the technical and organizational
measures necessary to comply with the principle of data minimization pursuant to art. 89, paragraph
1 of EU Regulation 679/2016 (so-called GDPR)

Rights of the interested parties

The interested party has the right to ask the data controller:

- access to personal data governed by art. 15 of EU Regulation 679/2016; - the rectification or


cancellation of the same or the limitation of the envisaged treatment

complaint with the Guarantor, as provided for by art. 77 of EU Regulation 679/2016 itself, or to take the
appropriate judicial offices pursuant to art. 79 of EU Regulation 679/2016.

The data provided by the candidates will not be subjected to automated decision-making processes.
