COMMUNICATION AT HOME

1. If a parent is constantly scolding their child during mealtime, it’s likely that the
communication between has broken down in several ways. Fist is the lack of emotional
connection, when a child feels criticized during mealtime, it can create a negative emotional
atmosphere and make them feel disconnected from their parents. Second is the lack of open
communication, if the family members are not having open and honest conversations with
one another, it can be difficult to resolve conflicts and work towards a common goal. Lastly
is the lack of positive reinforcement, when children do not receive positive reinforcement or
praise for their behavior during mealtime, it can lead to feelings of inadequacy and low self-
esteem.

2. To improve the communication between the parent and child in this situation, there are some
steps that can be taken. Positive reinforcement, active listening, and empathy. Instead of
scolding, parents could try to listen to thee child’s perspective, put themselves in the child’s
shoes and understand how they are feeling which could help to address any underlying issues
and could help improve their relationship.

3. Mealtime can promote effective communication and strengthen family bonds through sharing
experiences, spending quality time, encouraging conversations and building memories.
Mealtime provides an opportunity for family members to share their experiences and discuss
their day, which can help foster communication and build relationships.

4. Mealtime is an extremely important part of Filipino culture. In the Philippines, eating

together as a family is considered a bonding experience and an opportunity to connect with
loved ones. For Filipinos, food is not just nourishment, but a way to express love and
hospitality. Many Filipino dishes are passed down from generation to generation and are
considered a part of their heritage.
