system

1) The conference hall behind the main building has an exhaust and supply air riser duct
going straight to the roof. But the location of the riser ducts outlet and the air handling
unit for the conference hall does not match. This needs design correction.
2) The toilet exhaust fan (TEF-4) location is not indicated in the HVAC system drawing.
3) Staircase pressurizing fans for both emergency exit staircases have pressure more than
the allowed range which is (30Pa – 50Pa). A pressure more than this will shut the
emergency staircase doors close and make them difficult to open during fire when the
fans are on.
4) Riser duct drawings are not included in the HVAC system drawing.

Firefighting suppression system

1) The firefighting system used for the cold rooms should be dry type or pre-action fire
sprinkler system in order to avoid icing of water in the pipes. This system should be
separate from the other systems and should be fed directly from the fire pump since the
remaining systems are wet systems.
2) Fire zones are not clearly identified and isolated.
3) Zone control valves are not applied in the fire sprinkler system. This will make it difficult
to identify the zone where the fire has occurred and for isolation of the system during
maintenance.
4) Fire hydrant hose cabinet should be near the fire exit staircase in all floors. But the one
indicated in the fire plan is place adjacent to the middle staircase which is not an
emergency staircase. Thus, it should be moved to a location near to the emergency
staircase.
