Display consoles DLZ 030 and DLZ 050

1 Display consoles DLZ 030 and DLZ 050

1.1 Brief description of the display consoles

The digital display consoles DLZ 030 and DLZ 050 serve the direct display of measured values from intrins-
ically safe 4 ... 20 mA current circuits in hazardous zones.
The device is powered by the measuring signal. As a result, neither batteries nor power connections are re-
quired.
The display console measures the flowing current, scales the measured values for display in a physical unit
and then shows the result on the LC‑Display.
In order to observe trends, the display contains bar graphs with 41 segments in addition to the measuring-
point display, which can be scaled separately from the display readings. The device is available in various
housing designs.
Two intrinsically safe switching outputs are also offered as an option. Depending on which action is selected
(standstill condition or working current principle), when a limit value is reached, they change the switching
condition and transmit the 'Limit value reached' message.
In addition, the limit values are displayed graphically using a second bar chart. Consequently, you can see
whether the values measured are in the "good range" at a glance.

1.2 Overview of the features

Operating state
After clamping, the display consoles DLZ 030/050 start with the initialization of parameter and scaling data.
These are read from the internal EEPROM memory and come from the previous operation. This memory is
prepopulated with standard values when delivered new. The display console then starts to display the meas-
ured current signal on the digital display and in an analogue form in the bar charts. As a result, the device is
in working or operating mode and entries can be made (see flow chart in »Menu controls, flow
charts [➙21]«).

If the measured value in the mean time is less than the limit value, the time delay waits for the entire
period 'te' again from the start.

Measured values and bar chart scaling

The selection of the scaling menu is displayed.

[ENTER] button: Press to confirm.

Scaling starts with determining the position of the decimal point. The position
specified here

is binding for entries: Measured value scaling, bar chart scaling, limit values.
As [2000] is entered later for the upper scaling point, the decimal point has to
be set after the second position.

Standard setting: Decimal point is already preset at the desired position.

This menu item can therefore be jumped with the [MOVE RIGHT] button.

The display 'Scale point low' then appears.

Press the [ENTER] button to confirm and enter the lower –20 °C scaling mark
as follows:

switching output.
Use the [MOVE UP] button to select closed-current principle [nc---] (normal
closed).
Confirm with [ENTER].

The same process applied to the switching output Max.

To conclude, activate the delay time with the [ENTER] button. Press the arrow
keys to set the value [0015]
(15 seconds) for the two limit values.

Confirm with the [ENTER] button and exit the limit value menu.

Miss out the following menu items of the input menu (set passwords and calib-

4 Display consoles DLZ 055 and DLZ 111

4.1 General equipment description

The display consoles DLZ 055 and DLZ 111 are numerical, large-digit displays with additional symbols for
mathematical signs, dimension characters and operating status.
The devices are suitable for connection to the legal-for-trade weighing electronics of the DISO-
MAT Family.

STRICTLY OBSERVE
Damage to the device
Never use solvent to clean the device.

Characters are represented using LED technology.

The devices are therefore maintenance-free, except for the occasional cleaning of the filter disk. To carry out
this cleaning, use a soft cloth, with a little washing-up liquid if necessary.
An asynchronous serial interface is used to receive and evaluate the data telegrams arriving from the weigh-
ing electronics. Only the content of valid data telegrams is subsequently entered into the display.
The data telegrams not only contain the measured data, but also information on the scale's mode of opera-
tion. The relevant symbols are shown in the assigned status fields of the units:

-0- = Zeroing

PT = Tare value set

NET = Net value

yellow light = Display value frozen (print active)

Can also be controlled by the data telegram:

▪ Display a sign (Minus)

5.1 General Equipment Description

The VLD 20100 display is a numerical LC large number display with additional symbols for signs operating
status.
This unit is suited to connecting up to verifiable weighing electronics of the DISOMAT Family.

STRICTLY OBSERVE
Damage to the device
Never use solvent to clean the device.

Characters are represented using LED technology.

Apart from occasional cleaning of the filter disk, the unit is maintenance-free. To carry out this cleaning, use
a soft cloth, with a little washing-up liquid if necessary.

NET = Net value

= No-motion

ooo = Scale in overrange

.... = No valid data received

If the measurement range of the weighing electronics is exceeded, the message  "ooooo" is displayed in the
digit fields.

The unit has an electronic brightness control, which automatically adjusts the display brightness depending
on ambient light. This not only enables a good readout to be obtained in all light conditions, but also provides
a significant increase in service life.

5.3 Data transmission format

Interface type: RS423 (similar to RS232), can also be used with RS232

Baud rate, data format * 9600 Baud, 8 Data bit, 1 Stop bit, no parity

Baud rate/Data format and procedure are recognized automatically by the dis-
play.

:* If a value transmission format and a valid data protocol are identified, these set-
tings remain saved in the remote display until the next switching on. After chan-
ging to a different transmission format or another data protocol, the mains
voltage of the remote display must be switched off and on again so that the auto-
matic search for valid data protocols is restarted.

5.6 Self-test during start-up

After each switch-on, the device first performs a self-test, which runs according to the follow schematic:
▪ 2-second display of the software version number (V x.xx)
▪ 2-second LED test (all LED segments illuminate)
The unit has a built-in transmission data generator, whose transmission signal can be directly fed back to the
data input of the remote display by means of a wire jumper in the data plug (pin1 – pin3). Consequently a
function test of the serial interface of the remote display is possible. If the interface is functioning correctly,
the following display appears:
COM OK 8.8.8.8.8.

5.7 Mechanical mounting

The unit is supplied with two adjustable mounting brackets, which enable either wall or ceiling mounting. If
the slewing angle is not sufficient for the respective mounting type (ceiling or wall mounting), the two brack-
ets can simply be swapped.
1. Do not loosen the screw connection between the two parts of the console, but instead only replace
the two complete consoles against each other.
2. Only use self-locking nuts when fastening the consoles (anti-fall guard). The device's angle of inclina-
tion can be set smoothly to between 0° and 90° when installed on ceiling or wall.
The hole pattern for the bracket is the same as that for the DLZ 111 display consoles.
