MPs SIMBA ARATI AND SYLVANUS OSORO EXCHANGE BLOWS AT A FUNERAL IN KISII

On Monday ,there was exchange of blows at a funeral in Kisii between members of parliament who
had conflicting interests and had disagreed on matters which later led to a dramatic fight between
them in front of thousands of mourners who were present and two of the nation’s leaders.

It was during the burial service for the late deputy governor Joash maangi’s father when the two
met and exchanged blows. This happened after the Dagorreti mp Simba Arati attacked the deputy
present who was present by asking him to offer an apology for what happened during the 2007
election violence .This created fury from Osoro who charged against him with an attempt to snatch a
microphone from him which led to serious exchange of punches leaving the crowd surprised and
merely resulted to a serious brawl before the police and other security personnel stepped in and
brought everything to calm.

Simba Arati is understandably said to have attacked the deputy president’s narrative
‘DYNASTY’narrative which the DP has been using it to carry forward his political ambitions during his
campaigns. The two mps are from two opposing camps and each supporting different
politicians .Simba Arati is known to be a staunch supporter of former prime minister Raila Amolo
Odinga while his counterpart is a strong supporter of the deputy president.

During the same event ,drama was also present when nominated senator Millicent Omanga was
denied a chance to address the congregants by Kisii governor who could be heard saying publicly
‘just go away’ directly to Millicent Omanga.

When DP was given his chance to talk,he defended themselves from any form of accusations
channeled against hi insisting that he had helped the former prime minister ascend to office and had
also helped the president two times to ascend to power successfully. He further reiterated that there
is no reason as to why the symbol for his new party which is a wheelbarrow to be opposed while
other parties have oranges others having umbrellas as there party symbols.

On the other hand Raila Odinga distanced himself from the failures of the government insisting and
defending the handshake that they didn’t agree to join jubilee party and asked if there was any one
from his part who had joined jubilee or a minister or any cabinet secretary who had come from
ODM.He directly told the DP not to distance himself from the failures of the government insisting
that he was part of that government and should stop pointing fingers at others and should carry
their own cross. It is agreed that both the party leaders are going against each other as the two are
fighting for who shall take the mantle from president uhuru Kenyatta .Its also noted that Ruto on his
side is opposing BBI while Raila from his side is supporting and running campaigns for the the
initiative which is gaining momentum resulting to a question how will it end?

This is not the first time Simba arati is involved in a such situation, some times back in parliament ,his
finger was bitten when the house was out of order when the mps from different parties exchanged
blows which resulted to him merely loosing his finger,in other words chaos is never a new thing to
him.

Leaders are the image and representation of the people, thus when such incidences happen and are
caused by our leaders might cause serious damage to the entire country as citizens might be incited
against each other which may result to what occurred during the 2007 chaos when many people lost
their lives and our country got dragged many steps behind. It is noted that the two mps were fighting
to impress their political leaders forgetting that it could have led to greater damage if people would
have been more incited against each other.

In conclusion, as citizens of this country, let us be vigilant and not fall into incitements from our
leaders and turn against each other but rather stay in peace and harmony. And to our leaders ,we
urge them not to incorporate polititics of hatred among the citizens but preach peace and love
among us.This is the only way our country shall move forward,
