What is FSM?(1/2)
• FSM is Field service management.
• “Field service” refers to any service performed out in the field, as
opposed to on company property. Field service typically involves
dispatching workers or contractors to specific locations (often to a
customer location) to install, repair, or maintain equipment or systems.
• When most people think of field service, they think of setting up cable
TV or seeing an electrician work on a downed power line.
However, field service goes far beyond telecom these days. In its 2017
Customer Service Trends Report, analyst firm Forrester indicated field
service will become the “face of the company” for organizations in
many different industries.

What is FSM?(2/2)

• Field service management (FSM) touches every part of the field operation,
including:
➢Assigning and scheduling work orders
➢Dispatching employees to new work assignments
➢Communicating with employees in the field
➢Collecting field data (such as time of arrival, job completion, requests for
information)
➢Sharing job data or customer history with field employees
➢Routing employees to different jobs
➢Managing product inventory and availability
➢Doing VQA

What is VQA?(1/1)

• Our main job as FSM is doing VQAs.

• VQA is video quality assurance.
• When the crews finish their installation on sites, we
create a work order in AccuV and assign it to the crew
lead (quality checklist) in order to perform their VQA on
site and submit it to review.
• after assigning the work order, the crew have to start
this work order and check in on site using the ACCUV
mobile App.
• When all installation is done VQA is performed and
submitted.
• Most of our tasks assigned thru Microsoft planner.

How FSM Check the VQA using ACCUV?(1/5)
• First of all the FSM should be maintaining all needed site
documents before start the VQA.
• All documents can be found in AccuV document management
• as a reference of OEM documents and client standards, FSM use
NIQI.
• Most important documents needed:
1. A201 (CD):Hard and PDF versions of the professional A&E
construction set drawings.
2. PM201 (RFDS):Provides sector level detail of equipment and
installation across frequencies.
3. NEX_MSC_002 (JSA): scoping sheet that contain the site scope
details and equipments.

(B14) operation all should have their own antennas. No
antenna sharing unless certain dual band radios are used
• At least 6’ horizontal separation between 700 MHz D/E
(B29) and 700 B/C (B17) antennas within the same sector
• Bands 29, 17, and 14 will need to be separated by a
minimum of 3’ center to center or 24” between antenna
sides horizontally, whichever provides the greater
distance

Tower services: Radio / TMA / Quad / Filter Installation

➢ Mounting and location - RRU

• RRUs must not exceed the vertical plane

of the antenna
• RRUs can not be placed laterally with the
antenna
• When possible, RRUs should be mounted
to the antenna pipe in which it is
connected
• If unable to mount RRU to the operating
antenna, install the RRU to the next
closest pipe and behind the plane of all
antennas

Tower services: Mount Mod

• Mount Mod is the mount modification

done on site.
• When we do changes on site, these
changes may cause more load for
tower or Rooftop.
• In order to maintain the new load,
mount mod is a must.
• Mount analyze is a study done by an
engineer to specify if the site need a
mount modification and what is this
modification.
• Any deviation from the MA must be
approved by an engineer

Proprietary & Confidential 28

Tower services: Mount Mod
• For mount mod we need to check:
1. Mounts level.

PIM Hygiene and Mitigation
• Definition of PIM
• PIM stands for Passive Intermodulation • Multiple frequencies + high power + non-linear
• In its most basic form, PIM is nothing more than characteristics = PIM issues
noise • PIM can create interference that will reduce a
• PIM is generated when signals generated at a cell’s receive sensitivity or even block calls
cell site interact with non-linear characteristics • This interference can affect both the cell that
of the RF path creates it as well as other nearby receivers
• Basically, PIM is the creation of an unwanted • PIM is created at high transmit power
signal by the mixing of two or more signals at a • There can be internal and/or external PIM
non-linear junction sources

Proprietary & Confidential 32

PIM Hygiene and Mitigation
• Causes of PIM
Where to find non-linear junctions

• Loose RF connections
• Poorly prepared RF cable
terminations
• Improperly mated or
misaligned parts
• Cracked/cold solder joints
• Metal chips and shavings
• Loose fasterners
• Rust
• Nickle plating

Proprietary & Confidential 33

PIM Hygiene and Mitigation
• Causes of PIM
Sources of external PIM Sources of internal PIM
• Rusty metal objects near antennas • Loose connectors
• Metal shavings near antennas • Poorly prepared RF cable terminations
• Loose antennas mounting hardware • Improperly mated or misaligned parts
• Loose antenna support frames • Damaged cables
• Steel support frames for stealth enclosures • Cracked/cold solder joints
• Metal snap-ins hangers
• Hose clamps
• Metal flashing on parapet walls in front of antennas
• Metal components in a rooftop deck
• Metal cable trays in front of antennas
• Air handling equipment in front of antennas
• Security cameras in front of antennas
• Other operator’s equipment in front of antennas
Proprietary & Confidential 34
PIM Hygiene and Mitigation
• Causes of PIM

• Poor antenna spacing can have an impact on PIM mitigation

• RRU and other equipment placement will have an impact on PIM
mitigation

Proprietary & Confidential 35

PIM Hygiene and Mitigation
• A PIM Hygiene driver requires that all non-PIM material located within the high-risk PIM zone is removed,
regardless of frequencies on site

• If no PIM Hygiene driver is attached, PIM mitigation must be followed, regardless of frequencies on site

• PIM mitigation applies to current SOW only and we are not to introduce any new sources of PIM

• For example, Pos 1 and 4 have equipment supported with hose clamps and SS hardware. We are
installing new equipment in Pos 2. With no hygiene driver, we are only responsible for Pos 2 since we do
not want to introduce any new PIM issues.

• Another example would be equipment swaps and relocations. Anything swapped or moved would need
to have PIM mitigation applied to all support of the new equipment. “We used existing” is not a valid
argument.

Documents Management
• After finish all installation and VQA is clear FSM should redline the documents.
• Mainly CD and RFDS should be redlined.
• A video checklist is created for each site (PM501).
• Merged video created.
• After all documents done, the site will be ready to be submitted to client.
