 Objectives of Heat Transfer Study…

 Understand the modes of heat transfer taking place

 Analyse the temperature distribution in a system and

evaluate the heat transfer rate for certain operating
conditions.

 Design the necessary configuration (size and shape) in

order to achieve a certain transfer rate (thermal design)

 Steady; and
 Unsteady State
b. Convection
 Laminar flow over plates and in tubes; and

 Applications to Thermal Design of:
a. Heat Exchangers

Attendance will be checked 5

• Attendance: 10% random times in the semester
• Quizzes: 20% through different means to ensure
• H-Ws/Lab Works: 10% less distraction during normal class.

• Final Exams: 60% In the course of any absentee, the

victim should submit evidence to
show he/she was incapable of
• Total: 100% attending the class to the HOD.

NB:
Schedules for Quizzes and Lab works will be announced in class.
Deadlines for submission of Home works and other Assignments must
not be violated. Late submission is NOT allowed.
