Draft Resolutions : Model UN

Draft Resolution : Basically, is a DRAFT document concerning proposed resolutions (which


is metamorphosed into an official document with regards to respective authors & signatories
after being SECONDED with Majority of agreement votes) regarding the mentioned agenda.

The Resolution Strives to fulfill the following criterias:


-should be brief & solution oriented.
-should duly explain the crisis briefly.
-It is always recommended to have good amounts of members participating in the drafting
procedure (Which you Probably WILL LEAD), This way the delegates are sustained with utmost
respect & dignity which they might deserve.

[NOTE: A great leader at the committee session always respects other’s principles &
preferences. Therefore, One should thrive & strive to provide the members with required
recognition and should indulge in appreciating their efforts (even if just a small contribution).
NOTE that you must use formal & considerate language with utmost politeness while discussing
solutions for the given agenda at hand while the drafting procedure . Also make sure that all of
your polite & considerate phrases are heard by the Executive Board. POINTS MENTIONED
ABOVE WILL SURELY FABRICATE AN IMPRESSION OF A GREAT LEADER IN THE CHAMBERS OF
THE HONOURABLE CHAIR.]

INCORPORATIONS: A well fabricated draft resolution must include the


following :

Heading:
-Committee name.
-Topic under consideration.
-Draft resolution number.
-Main submitter's name and country.
Preambulatory Clauses (Preamble / Preamb):

-Background information on the issue being addressed.

-Past resolutions or actions taken by the international community.

-References to relevant treaties, conventions, or UN documents.

Operative Clauses (Resolved Clauses):

-Specific actions and solutions proposed to address the issue.

-Each clause should address a distinct aspect of the problem.

-Begin each clause with action verbs (e.g., "Recommends," "Urges," "Calls upon," "Requests,
"Endorses").

Format and Language:

-Use formal language and avoid personal pronouns (e.g., "we," "our").

-Follow a clear and consistent format for each clause.

-Use correct parliamentary language and avoid repetition.

Sponsor and Signatories:

-List the countries or delegates who are sponsoring the resolution.

-Allow other delegates to sign on as signatories to show their support.

Amendments:

-Be open to potential amendments from other delegates.

-Include space for delegates to propose changes or additions.


Citations:

-Reference the sources used to gather information.

-Provide footnotes for statistics, data, or quotations.

Logic and Feasibility:

-Ensure the proposed actions are logical and realistic.
