COURSE SYLLABUS IN ART APPRECIATION

VISION-MISSION

OBJECTIVES
In pursuance to the Mission, College of Subic Montessori adopts the following objectives which perpetuate the departmental curricular
activities.
1. To provide a student with moral and intellectual training and efficient atmosphere so that he/ she may become an integrated person. A
person who is in the process of becoming the person he/ she aspires to be, as a human being in relation to himself/ herself; as a
worker in relation to environment. A person who is aware of and is concerned with social realities of widespread injustice and
inequality-who contributes to the development and attainment of economically equitable, politically just, participative, socially and
culturally integrated society; A person who is socially responsible in upholding and defending human dignity and participates in
promoting common welfare.
2. To make itself, in coordination with other social institutions, more responsive in the promotion of ecological and social responsibility.
Thus, in the end, serving as a catalyst of change towards a society of freedom, justice, equality and peace.

IV. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Art Appreciation is a three-unit course that develops students' ability to appreciate, analyze, and critique works of art. Through
interdisciplinary and multimodal approaches, this course equips students with a broad knowledge of the practical, historical, philosophical, and
social relevance of the arts in order to hone students' ability to articulate their understanding of the arts. The course also develops students'
competency in researching and curating art as well as conceptualizing, mounting, and evaluating art productions. The course aims to develop
students' genuine appreciation for Philippine arts by providing them opportunities to explore the diversity and richness and their rootedness in
Filipino culture.

VII. COMPUTATION OF GRADES:

The passing score from the total number of items in the periodical examinations is 50%, while the passing grade for the semester is 75% or
3.00. Grade will be computed as follows: Prelim is 30%, Midterm is 30%, and Final is 40%, or a total of 100%.
