About the Hartzell Technical Documents Library
Welcome to the Hartzell Technical Documents Library.
This CD provides you with a complete collection of all current Hartzell Manuals and
Service Documents. The following information is included on the Hartzell Technical
Documents Library CD:

The Hartzell Technical Documents Library will be revised and distributed in its entirety
every two months, so that all information is current and can be conveniently accessed
on one CD.
When you purchase a subscription to the Hartzell Technical Documents, you will receive
your first CD in a jewel case. Subsequent revisions of our CD will come to you in a
cardboard mailer. Each time you receive a new revision, simply discard the one that
is in your CD case and replace it with the new revision. You will always have the most
current information available at your fingertips.

HARTZELL PROPELLER INC. EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES,


EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY EXPRESS OR
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE. HARTZELL ONLY WARRANTS THAT THIS CD WILL BE FREE OF

WARRANTY PERIOD IS 90 DAYS AFTER THE DATE YOU RECEIVE THE CD OR
UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE NEXT UPDATED CD FROM HARTZELL, WHICHEVER
PERIOD IS SHORTER. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW
LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY
NOT APPLY TO YOU. HARTZELL’S SOLE OBLIGATION UNDER THIS LIMITED
WARRANTY IS TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE CD; HOWEVER, HARTZELL IS
NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING ANY CD THAT HAS BEEN DAMAGED
BY ABUSE, MISUSE, OR NEGLECT. HARTZELL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR
DAMAGE OR LOSS OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DATA LOSS OR CORRUPTION,

MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL USERS OF THE HARTZELL TECHNICAL DOCUMENTS
LIBRARY.
NOTIFICATIONS OF INTERIM DOCUMENTS ARE PROVIDED BY HARTZELL
PROPELLER INC. ONLY TO THE ORIGINAL SUBSCRIBER VIA E-MAIL
CORRESPONDENCE. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SUBSCRIBER TO

A subscription to the Hartzell Technical Documents Library on CD Rom includes
password access to a restricted area of the Hartzell website where all documents
and temporary manual revisions issued between CD updates will be posted for the
subscriber to view.

NOTE: Only subscribers to the Hartzell Technical Documents Library CD have


access to the restricted area of the Hartzell website.
The subscriber will receive immediate e-mail notification each time there is a new
document posted on the website, for quick access to this information. It is important
that you report any change in e-mail address or other company information to our
Technical Publications Department so that we can insure timely delivery of e-mail
notifications and other correspondence.

Getting Around the Hartzell Technical Documents Library
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader®
The interface used on this CD is Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® version 9.0. You must have
version 6.0 or later installed on your PC to read the documents in our library. Adobe®
Acrobat®Reader® version 9.0 or later is recommended for full functionality.
Visit http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ to obtain a free download of Adobe® Acrobat®
Reader®.
Features of Adobe® Acrobat® Reader®
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® allows you to easily navigate through documents by providing
hyperlinks that can take you directly to a specific chapter or location within the text or to
a separate document.
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® also offers text “find” and “search” features that will allow
you to view all occurrences of a word or phrase within a document or to quickly search
among all documents on the CD for all occurrences of a word or phrase.
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® Help
For information and specific instructions on using the features of the Adobe® Acrobat®
Reader® software, go to the Help menu in your Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® software.

Copying This CD to Your Computer


You may wish to access the Hartzell Technical Documents Library directly from your
PC instead of from the CD. The contents of this CD may be copied onto your PC, and a
shortcut to the program can be placed on your desktop by doing the following:
1. Create a new folder on the C:/ drive of your computer that will hold the files from this
CD.
2. Insert the CD in your computer. It will automatically start up.
3. Close or minimize the Hartzell Technical Documents Library program, but do not
remove the CD from your computer yet.
4. Open Windows Explorer and click on the drive that contains the CD
(usually D:/ drive). You will see a list of all the files that are contained on the CD.
5. Select all files on the CD and copy (or drag) them from the CD into the newly created
folder on your PC (C:/ drive).
6. From the files you just pasted into the new folder on our PC, you may create a
shortcut icon to open this CD from your desktop for convenient access:
A. Click once on the file entitled Hartzell Library.pdf.
B. Right-click your mouse and choose the “send to” option
C. Choose the “Send to Desktop (create shortcut) option.
7. The files are now copied to your computer and you will be able to open the Hartzell
Technical Documents Library by using the new shortcut icon on your desktop.

Updating Revised CD on Your PC
Once you have initially copied the contents of the CD to your PC, you will need to
update these files each time you receive your revision of the Hartzell Technical Library.
You should update your files by doing the following:

CAUTION: BEFORE COPYING THE FILES FROM THE REVISED CD TO THE


FOLDER ON YOUR PC, ALL EXISTING FILES IN THE FOLDER ON
YOUR PC MUST BE DELETED.
1. Open the folder on your PC that contains the Hartzell Technical Library files. Delete
ALL files in the folder, but do not delete the folder itself.
2. Insert the CD in your computer. It will automatically start up.
3. Close or minimize the Hartzell Technical Documents Library program, but do not
remove the CD from your computer yet.
4. Open Windows Explorer (or file manager) and click on the drive that contains the CD
(usually D:/ drive).
5. Select all files on the CD and copy (or drag) them from the CD into the now empty
folder on your PC (C:/ drive).

NOTE: If you previously created a shortcut icon for your desktop for this CD, you
will not have to create a new one.

Copying This CD to a Network Drive


You may have several PCs within your facility and wish to have the ability to access the
Hartzell Technical Documents Library directly from your network drive instead of from
the CD. The contents of this CD may be copied onto your network drive, and a shortcut
to the program can be placed on individual PC desktops by doing the following:
1. Create a new folder on your network drive that will hold the files from this CD.
2. Insert the CD in your computer. It will automatically start up.
3. Close or minimize the Hartzell Technical Documents Library program, but do not
remove the CD from your computer yet.
4. Open Windows Explorer and click on the drive that contains the CD
(usually D:/ drive). You will see a list of all the files that are contained on the CD.
5. Select all files on the CD and copy (or drag) them from the CD into the newly created
folder on your network drive.
6. From the files you just pasted into the new folder on our network drive, you may
create a shortcut icon on each individual PC to open this CD from each desktop for
convenient access:
A. Click once on the file entitled Hartzell Library.pdf.
B. Right-click your mouse and choose the “send to” option
