4. WORK METHODOLOGY
4.1 Delivery
Fire doors are heavy ,make sure that there is sufficient labor to handle doors and
components
Door assemblies or door sets must be lifted evenly and securely to avoid any bending
Paint grade doors should be sealed and primed on all faces and edges immediately
after delivery.
4.2 Storage
Stored flat, on a level and dry surface and kept clear of the floor on at least there
Protected from dirt and damage but without restricting air circulation
Stacked so that they are not exposed to daylight as ultra violet light can cause fading
Door sets with projecting sills must have spacers between in the stack to avoid
damage.
5. Chain block and Webbing sling: Lifting material (door) from Deck level area to
4.4 Installation
Doors should be fixed in accordance with the installation instructions provided with door
set. Details can be found on the door label on the top / side of the door. Fitting should be
2) Lift up the door frame using the chain block as per door opening at crimped wall
3) Using suitable Tools as specification of fixing, fix the frame in the frame
using drilling machine to secure to the door frame (bolt & nut) and for Double
door using tack weld the door frame to structural support (optional) / bolt &
nut.
5) Measure the frame aperture size to ensure the frame is straight, square and
level and will fit the intended door with specified gap on all sides
6) Check the gap between the frame and the wall is completely sealed with
appropriate cover plate. Back filling of any further gaps with SIM plate material
certificate data sheet can only be completed once the door in hug and all
1) Position the door in the frame and mark where the hinges are located.
2) Recess in the frame for the correct number of hinges to the correct size.
3) Fix the hinged door leaf to the frame using the recommended tools for secure the
screw. Pilot holes should be drilled at each fixing point, at the correct size and
depth.
4) Ensure that pads are used under the hinge blades as specified in the installation
instructions.
5) Test the door opening and closing action and ensure a smooth action.
6) Check the door closes level and straight against the stop on the frame.
7) Check that any smoke seals fill the gap around the perimeter of the door or frame.
8) Only once all dimensional and functionality checks of the door has taken place,
should backfilling of any further gaps between the back face of the frame and the
wall be done.
9) Fill up the sealant mastic for closing the gap between door frame and wall
structure.
Fire and smoke seals can be located in the frame / the door edge as per the door
The frame or door should be grooved to take the suitable seal size and
Seal should be cut to full length and fitted securely, flush into the groove
2) Door closer
Marking of the door closer should be installed on top of the door frame
