Problem Statement:
Flow Simulation of exhaust Fan removing harmful gasses from closed space.

The flow Simulation of the Exhaust fan to remove harmful gases from an enclosed space.
Start Ansys workbench, select fluent and drag it.

Go to geometry and double click on it to open design modular.

Select XY plane make normal to and import geometry, as I have made my required geometry on
solid works and I have to put this geometry in it and then by pushing generate button to generate
it.

After the geometry is generated go to tools and select enclosure from there to make a box or
cylinder around our geometry to make flow simulation. In my case I’m choosing box because as
in our FYP we are using fan in a closed box to remove out air from the box.

After generating box now its time to make a cut in a box for inlet and out or the passage of air
from these holes.
First we have to cut an inlet part for the air coming in to the box.

Now we have to make another cut for exhaust of fan to remove out harmful gases from the closed
spaces.

Close the design modular and go to mesh to generate mesh . Smaller the size of mesh better will
be more accurate results.

After generating mesh Select object and give name as inlet, outlet and walls and close the meshing.

Open Setup module and set necessary steps for the simulation.

Open cell zone conditions and select box from there.

Go to boundary condition and choose the boundary condition inlet and outlet etc.

Go to the solution initialization select air as our flow mode and setting its properties select compute
from inlet and initialize solution.

After that go to run section and select number of iterations and run solution, and close the setup
module after it.

Now go to results section and show the results.

Conclusion
The fan will remove the gasses more quickly as a proper supply of voltage is given to the fan and
depends on the operating speed of the fan. If the area of removing gas is a small fan will remove
gas more quickly as compared to a larger area and we have to install a larger exhaust fan in a large
dimension depends on gas leakage concentration. We have taken a box of 304.8mm height and
length of box is 457.2mm and a 300 rpm of fan. In the end we got a flow rate at inlet is 0.01064
kg/s and at the outlet we got flow rate of air almost 3.71578 kg/s.
