Importance of Filipino Values

Being part of the Filipino society entails that I must conform with the set standards and
principles of the community I belong to. I believe that being in this kind of environment gave me
my identity and made me part of the system. This, in my opinion, is the same for every Filipino
raised in the country where following tradition is very important.

Filipino values have set unwritten rules which make our society united and orderly. This
results to our progressive actions as a nation. I think it is also important that our values are
rooted from our ancestors as it also preserves our culture and tradition.

Another thing is that our values give us power. It raises us to be of one with our nation
and in turn makes a democratic country more stable. Through this, Filipinos can be united
through different forms of struggle. It is analogous to how ants, despite their size, can create
huge anthills or how they can survive through storms and floods. However, Filipino resiliency
still should not be romanticized as this only speaks of the Filipinos who have survived the harsh
realities of our country. Filipinos will definitely come together to get pass through various hurdles
but that does not mean that we should shrug off the things that makes it harder for us Filipinos.

Our values do make us strong and stable as individuals and as a nation. However, there
are Filipino characteristics that must be changed imminently. It is true that families as
fundamentals to our values have majorly impacted every one of us but sometimes, a lot of
opportunities pass without any consideration. Our relationship with our peers and families have
caused a lot of errors in our society and these things must be improved. I believe that the youth
is trying to make an action toward this which may evolve into creating new sets of values for a
new Filipino society. Through this, I believe that Filipinos can reach greater feats.

It is important that we have these standards as it keeps everything in order. Therefore,

these values must be improved as the world progresses. I believe that our relationships with our
families and peers should matter but this should not affect the potential achievements as a
nation.
