The above-given images depict the project plan for the Loblaws. Fig. 1 is the work

breakdown structure which imparts the inputs for the network diagram displayed in Fig. 2

The project progressiveness will be understood by studying the fig.1 and Fig. 2

Following is the fundamental understanding from the above images.

1. Loblaws project for tackling the new market competitors (i.e. Walmart and Amazon) and

providing something more to the new and existing consumers by enhancing the supply

chain comprises 5 work breakdown structure components.

2. All five components comprise 16 work packages, and the project lifecycle is estimated at

144 days. The first component, of the project, is the Project Initiation which is estimated

at 41 days starting from July 10th, 2023 and expected to be completed by Monday,

September 4th, 2023. This phase consists of four working work packages which are as

follows:

2.1. Defining Project Objectives and Scope- It is estimated to be completed within five

days, starting July 10th and ending July 14th. This activity will be conducted by the

project manager Mr. Shivankit Sharma who will also be responsible for the whole

project. He will define the project objective and scope. Also, it will be ensured that it

aligns with the organization's vision.

2.2. Identifying Key Stakeholders- The duration for this activity is estimated at around

ten days starting after the completion of the previous work package. It is expected

to be started by July 17th and completed by July 28th. This activity will have the

joint efforts of PM Mr. Shivankit and Business Analyst Mr. Danish Ahmed Pathan.

These two vital resources will take care of Stakeholder requirements and

satisfaction.
2.3. Establishing Communication Channels- This activity is expected to be completed

within six days after completing the previous work package. It will be conducted

from July 31st to August 7th. It will be governed by Chief Marketing Officer &

Facilitator Mr. Mimoh Singh Chouhan, and Team Lead & Co-ordinator Mr. Yash Naik

will do hands-on. Mr. Yash will co-ordinate every communication to the developing

and operating team, and if senior management help is required, Mr. Yash will

approach Mr. Mimoh. Then, he will discuss and facilitate communication within

senior management.

2.4. Assembling Project Team- Mr. Yash will oversee this activity, and the time allotted

for this activity is 20 days starting from August 8th and is expected to be completed

by September 4th. In this activity, recruiting and requisition of talent will be

conducted. This activity is also dependent on the previous work package. With the

completion of this work package, phase-1 of the project will also be concluded.

3. Second component (Phase-2): This work component is the Analysis and Design,

estimated completion time is 18 days starting on September 13th and ending on October

6th. This component comprises three work packages which are as follows:

3.1. Gather Market Data- This work package will be completed in 3 days from

September 13th to September 15th. Mr. Mimoh will be the hands-on resource for

this activity.

3.2. Analyze Market Trends and Consumer Preferences- The time allotted for this work

package is five days from September 18th to September 22nd. This activity will have

joint efforts of Mr. Danish and Mr. Mimoh and will require the predecessor work

package to be completed. Mr. Mimoh will share information from the gathered
market data with Mr. Danish, and further brainstorming will be done in the direction

of the project objective and scope.

3.3. Developing Strategies- Mr. Danish will be the hands-on resource for this activity,

and it is expected to be completed within ten days from September 25th to October

6th. This activity will be started after the completion of the previous work package.

With this activity, project phase-2 will be completed.

4. Third Component (Phase-3): After phase-2, phase-3 will be in play. It is expected to take

41 days for completion, starting from October 9th, 2023, to December 4th, 2023. This

component is the Research and Development(R & D), which consist of 3 work packages.

These work packages specifications are as follows:

4.1. Researching the Emerging Technologies and Trends in the Retail Industry- Mr.

Danish and Mr. Yash are the resources allocated for this activity, and six days is

expected for its completion.

4.2. Identifying Potential Technological Solution- The time allocated for this activity is

15 days starting from October 17th to November 6th. It will be started after the

completion of the previous work package. Mr. Yash will be the hands-on resource for

this activity. Various technology will be reviewed, and multiple solution approaches

will be selected.

4.3. Pilot and Test New Technologies- This activity will have Mr. Mimoh and Mr. Yash

working together. They will establish a high-level and meticulous implementation

plan for the selected solution approach. It has an estimated 20 days, from

November 7th to December 4th. This activity has the previous work package as a

dependency.
5. Project Management Plan and Execution (Phase-4): This activity will be completed

within 38 days tentatively. It comprises four work packages. The estimated start date will

be December 5th, and the end date will be January 5th, 2024. Specification of included

work packages are as follows:

5.1. Developing Project Management Plan- Estimated time is ten days, and the resource

allocated for this activity is Mr. Shivankit. This plan will be meticulous and have very

detailed information about the work to be done. It is expected to be completed by

December 18th, 2023.

5.2. Defining Project Milestones, Deliverables, Timelines: Mr. Mimoh and Mr. Shivankit

will work together on this work package. Completing the previous work package will

be required to start this activity by December 19th and complete by December 25th,

2023. It is expected to be completed within five days.

5.3. Assigning Task and Responsibilities- Mr. Yash and Mr. Shivankit will work together in

this activity. It is expected to be completed within three days after completing the

previous work package. In this task, Mr. Yash will distribute work among the

project's developing and operational teams. Mr. Yash will also co-ordinate these

teams, and Mr. Shivankit will oversee them.

5.4. Track Issues and Manage Risks- Issues will be tracked, and Mr. Yash will manage

risk. This task will be started after completing the previous work package and is

expected to be completed within 20 days. Backlogs will be cleared, and risk handled

via Disaster Recovery or various Risk Management Systems. With this task, phase-4

of the project will also be completed.

6. Last Component: The last component of the project is sign-off. It has two short-duration

work packages. Information about them is given below:


6.1. Client Approval- Estimated time is two days, and Mr. Shivankit & Mr. Danish will be

working together on this task. It is a formal task towards the project closure by

taking the client's approval on the agreement's quality, functionality and fulfilment.

6.2. Project Closure- If the client is satisfied with the project, the project can be officially

terminated as its life cycle is completed, and the project team will disband. The

estimated completion time is four days from January 4th to January 9th, 2024.

7. Critical Path: Project Management Plan and Execution (Phase-4) activities lies on the

critical path as shown in the network diagram (Fig.2). The critical path can be defined as

the longest sequences of tasks that must be completed to successfully complete the

project, from initiation to project closure phase.

The work packages included in Phase-4 which coincides with the critical path are:

7.3. Assigning Task and Responsibilities

7.4. Track Issues and Manage Risks
