1. Use short phrases like “prepare for a quiz”
that stand for a combined set of directions.

2. Use call-and-response sayings


to regain attention.

3. Teach students to use question marks


when grading.

4. Go over tests at the end of the class period,


not the beginning.

5. Designate certain times for students to


use the restroom.

6. Have students pass papers backwards


or sideways (not forward).

7. Have designated in bins for student work.
