Problem
This was a long pending issue and the
observation and history revealed the
following

z Frequent seal leak and bearing damage.

z Abnormal sound.
z High vibration.
Analysis
Spectrum analysis showed the dominancy
at fundamental frequency, which is an
indication of misalignment and rotor
unbalance.Further analysis confirmed that the
weak front foot of the pump is the root cause
of high vibration
Action
The front foot was replaced by a modified one
with more stiffness during 2004 T/A
Present Condition
z Vibration was reduced to 1.5mm/s from
9.7mm/s RMS
z and there is no abnormal sound.The machine
condition is normal and healthy.
