THE PINK DOLPHINS OF THE AMAZON

The pink dolphin is one of the emblematic species of the Amazon. It is also called Boto or Bufeo and is
the largest freshwater dolphin. It is known for being friendly and noble, in tribes of the Amazon

Its scientific name is Inia geoffrensis and it belongs to the genus Inea. The pink dolphin is a cetacean
that is nothing like the common sea dolphin, on the contrary, it has special characteristics to survive in
its habitat. When the sun goes down, the jungle begins to be seen against the light and it is difficult to
see anything clearly, in the river water something begins to move. It emerges and submerges.

CHARACTERISTICS

• Pale pink in color, unlike other types of dolphins, its neck is flexible, which allows it to move its head
left and right.

• It has a long snout, a rounded head, and a small dorsal fin.

• Its length varies between 2 and 3 meters.

• They are a little more shy

• Intelligence: allows them to swim, despite the fact that most are blind or nearly blind
