PINK DOLPHIN

The pink dolphin is a species threatened with extinction and, undoubtedly, the most
striking river dolphin due to the coloration of its body, since, as its name indicates, it
is pink. It is also the largest of them all.

The pink dolphin is one of the most emblematic species of the Amazon and Orinoco
river basins, the only places where it lives in Colombia.

Characteristics: Pale pink in color, unlike other types of dolphins, its neck is flexible,
allowing it to move its head left and right. It has a long snout, a rounded head and a
small dorsal fin. Its length varies between 2 and 3 meters.

The pink coloration is acquired with time. At birth and in their youth they are
gray, in adolescence they are light gray and at the arrival of adulthood they turn
pink as a result of the wear of their skin, being the males more pink than the
