 Your application for admission to the MCA oral examination has been accepted. To arrange your oral examination, please complete Section 4 and
send to the Marine Office of your choice.
Candidates undertaking an MCA examination who require reasonable adjustments in line with government legislation may be allowed extra
examination time. Please ensure you inform your chosen Marine Office at the time of your examination booking.

When you attend for your oral examination, you must bring with Please supply your address and telephone number for return of

iii. your discharge book or certificates of discharge
iv. your sea service testimonials

If you fail your examination, please refer to section 7 of this document to arrange a resit. If you pass your oral examination, please
refer to section 5 to apply for your CoC.

5. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR A CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY

You must enclose the following certificates/qualifications (indicated by a P or # ) with your NoE pass before your Certificate of Competency can be
issued. This is for guidance only and you should refer to our current regulations laid out in our M notices to ensure you send the full requirements.

GMDSS General Operators Certificate (Book) Signals Certificate (issued within the last 3 years)
PSC&RB # Advanced Fire Fighting #
First Aid at Sea OR Medical First Aid Certificate Navigation, Radar & ARPA Simulator (Operational Level)
Proficiency in Medical Care (issued within the last 5 years) EDH Certificate
SQA Certificate(s) (issued within the last 3 years) Navigation, Radar & ARPA Simulator (Management Level)
HELM Operational Valid ENG1 Medical Fitness Certificate or acceptable equivalent *
HELM Management Current Certificate of Competency
Personal Survival Techniques # Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting #

*This is only required if you have not yet submitted a valid medical fitness certificate or the medical fitness certificate you submitted with
your application has subsequently expired.

# If you are applying for your first UK CoC you must submit your full course completion certificate.

For the issue of any CoC this must have been issued within the last 5 years or updated within the last 5 years.
