Background
WWF has been working in Indonesia since early 1960s initially focusing on Javan rhino conservation. In 1996,
WWF-Indonesia was registered as an Indonesian legal entity and became a foundation, Yayasan WWF-
Indonesia Our work has grown ever since to be a truly global, science-based, diverse and highly respected
conservation organization. Based on the understanding of the complex relationships between human
activities and the natural environment, our work focuses on conserving and maintaining habitat and wildlife
as well as halving footprint while promoting equitable and fair access, use and distribution to and of natural
resources.
WWF focuses on finding workable solutions and mobilizing collective action for conserving natural resources
and promoting sustainable development. The conservation of natural resources in Indonesia and around
the world requires strong awareness and advocacy, effective action at multiple levels, and mobilization of
resources. We strive to save biodiversity and promote best practices that ensure continued social and
economic benefits to local communities and safeguard their rights. We also work with various stakeholders
to restore damaged ecosystems and mitigate various threats such as climate change, waste, and pollution.
To date, WWF-Indonesia works with an increasing number of businesses to help them adopt sustainable
practices through transformative business initiatives. These efforts, coupled with WWF’s local-to-global
reach, our focus on communities and scientific expertise, will enable a movement to transform production
and consumption and thus help save our planet.
With the scale of the challenge facing nature there are few roles as important as this. Our mission to halt
and reverse nature's decline is a big ask. We know we cannot succeed alone, which is why we will need
game-changing, sector-leading, and and collaborative partnerships. A significant part of WWF-Indonesia's
vision and mission can only be achieved with the support of external partners, including domestic corporate
partners.
Below are some examples of how WWF-Indonesia partners with corporate partners:
1. Sustainable Business
Rethink business models for a nature-positive future
by addressing business drivers of nature loss and implementing sustainable business practices in
accordance with the mitigation hierarchy
In order to build a stronger partnership with corporate partners, WWF-Indonesia must understand their
interests, needs, and expectations. By doing this, we will also be able to map our internal resources and
accomplish our conservation goals. Furthermore, WWF-Indonesia must also understand Sustainability/CSR
trend in Indonesia to leverage, create and remain relevant with current situation, and at the end to identify
the right strategy to engage corporate partners and unlock untapped potential. This is where we need
comprehensive insight data and market trend analysis to strengthen our partnership and fundraising
strategy. We need to work with businesses to develop and deliver amazing partnerships that will deliver
change on the ground, shift government policies, and engage the public to achieve our mission.
