Summer has officially started, meaning that the weather outside has begun to warm up.
Less day are raining, and the sun is shining more. Time to learn more about the season of
summer! To begin, I included a definition of what a season is. This can help with parents trying
to explain between the four different seasons here in Canada. Along with the definition of
‘season’ in English, other ways of saying ‘season’ in other languages is available too. I
specifically included Romanian because a child in the classroom speaks Romanian at home. This
allowing to bridge between home/school life and to teach the other children more information
about their peers’ personal lives as well. This is exhibiting 3.2 Expressive Language –
Vocabulary, as children will be able to expand their current vocabulary by adding new words. A
visual representation of each of the seasons was also provided, with an arrow pointing to which

We have been trying to beat the heat in the classroom! We used ice cubes to cool down
and create some beautiful art pieces. Mixing water and paint into ice cube trays then placing into
the freezer. Once frozen the children are able to glide the ice cubes across their paper, leaving a
trail of watery paint. Children are engaging their 5.3 Sensory Exploration, using their senses in
the exploration of properties and 5.3 Sensory Discrimination, using their senses to identify and
differentiate between properties. A resource of how to make your own-coloured ice cubes for
painting is also provided for families to try to make their own at home. Allowing the children to
take what they have experienced at school and to do the same in their home setting, which can
Within the display, an area is reserved for different ways for the children to enjoy the
summer air. This week’s focus resource to the parents is for a soccer team. Little Kickers (n.d.) is
a local soccer club designed for young children to teach children quality soccer skills while
incorporating pre-school learning opportunities. By joining a local soccer time children will be
able to show 1.1 Social interest, as they begin to observe and imitate their peers. While also
improving their 5.1 Gross Motor in running as they will be stopping and going during the games.
The printed advertisement for the Little Kickers (n.d.) is a great visual for diversity and
inclusion, as it is showing families the possibility of their child engaging in a sport like such.
Showing that all families can participate regardless of culture and ability.
Another resource provided is our classroom, is our special July Activity Calendar. The
calendar was added to the parent board to ensure they stay in the loop with the current special
events planned for the children. The activities scheduled are to keep the children excited about
coming to school during the hotter days. Finding different ways to stay cool, have fun with other
children, to try new things, and to bring some of their home life to school (i.e., character shirt,

The image of the children at the water table illustrates the children in the frame socializing with
one another. Playing alongside of each other and playing together to achieve their goals.
Illustrating 1.1 Social interest, while also engaging 4.4 Spatial exploration of filling and dumping
their buckets of water. Also showing their interest of water play, especially useful during the
hotter months here in Canada. The image of the child running through a mist of water is from the
first water day. Rowan sprinted through the sprinkler with a big smile on his face. Rowan was
exhibiting 5.3 Sensory Motor Integration, as he is coordinating his senses while engaging his
gross motor (i.e., touch of water on skin/gross motor running). The final picture is of the children
creating their ice cube paintings. The children sat at the table together and creating art pieces.
The image used here shares inclusion, as regardless of your physical ability, the activity planned
Overall, this board is to help get the children excited about the change of season. By
doing so parents are able to learn more about their child’s learning experiences while at school.
They are also able to continue those learning experiences in the home environment as well. The
parent board also helps to keep parents informed about what is activity going on in the classroom
and what is upcoming in the future. Moreover, this board is to help keep parents connected and
