7. Installation
!Installation and extraordinary maintenance must be carried out by qualified persons or organizations.

7.1.Necessary actualities for installation the VEDA Max.E-Mini

The following installations must be present in the room:
 Air duct connections to the unit inlets/outlets;
 400 V power supply – 5 wires(L1, L2, L3, Neutral and Ground)
 Installations for condensation drainage.

7.2.Important requirements regarding installation:

 The unit must be installed in a solid and vibration-free ceiling able to support the weight.
 There must be no obstruction of the air flow into and out of the unit; the air has to be able to circulate
free.
 Do not install the unit near sources of heat, steam or inflammable gases
 The unit has to be installed in a place, that allows easy condensate leading
 The unit has to be installed in a way, that the filters to be accessible (removed from the bottom).
 When choosing a place for installation, have to provide manipulation space sidelong and downside the
unit. Minimum space of 150 mm is needed under the unit to install a condensate drain pipe. A trap of
minimum height of 150 mm must be installed before connecting the pipe to a building sewer. Provide at
least 1m on the operation side of the unit - a service space is needed for opening access doors for
maintenance the components (fans, compressor, electric panel) and filter removal. The drawing shows the
minimum manipulation distance
 The unit has to be installed and leveled in horizontal position, with max. allowed slope of 0,5o

10
11
 Duct connection of VEDA Max.E-Mini

!Do not switch on the unit if it have not been ducted.

The ducts must be sized in relation to the system and fans characteristics. An incorrect duct calculation could
cause pressure losses and thus insufficient airflow. There must be at least 1m.long straight duct sections on
exhaust and supply side of the unit. To prevent the transmission of vibrations to the duct system, it is
recommended to use flexible connections between fan outlets and the ducts. To guarantee the electrical
continuity, an earth cable have to connect the unit with the duct.

12
 Connection of the unit to the sewage system
Max.E-Mini is equipped with 3 drain hoses with diameter of 20mm each. They are placed on the bottom of
the unit- under the evaporator (2pcs.)- Siphon Underpressure and under the condenser (1pcs.)- Siphon
Overpressure. See the scheme below!

1. Installing/Mounting of the drainage system

!Caution!

Both siphons- Under pressure and Overpressure must be connected to the central sewage system always
separately

- Both siphons- Under pressure and Overpressure are part of the standard accessories of the unit, delivered
with. They are made of PVC material. The siphons are preassembled in factory conditions and the
Customer must assemble(due to gluing) and install siphon Under pressure with the delivered parts, by
using the mounting scheme below

13
14
!Caution!
Do not connect the Siphons directly to the sewage pipes that smell of Ammonia. The ammonia in the sewage
might enter the unit through the siphons and corrode the heat exchanger and/or be transferred in the supply air
to the room.

!Caution!
Water accumulating in the Siphons and drain piping can cause the drain to clog and condense water leakage
outside the drain pans

- When piping passes indoors, always insulate it all the way to the base of the drain socket
- In areas where freezing may occur, always take steps to prevent the pipes from freezing
- Make sure water doesn`t leak from the drain pipes
- Avoid bends and curves in the pipes to prevent them getting clogged

2. After piping/installation work is finished check drainage flows smoothly

- Test the drainage and siphons by pouring around 1000cc of water directly into the siphon Under
pressure, following the below scheme

!Caution!
Always do the above shown operation in the following cases:
- Before start-up of the unit in “Cooling Mode” (Manual or Automatic)
- In “Cooling Mode” when switching off the unit (for whatever reason) for more than 72h and its
secondary start up

3. Make sure that heat insulation work is executed on the following 2 spots to prevent any possibility for
water leakage due to dew condensation
15
- Siphon Underpressure and Overpressure
- The connection of both siphons to the sewage system

Electrical connection

The unit is fully wired in factory conditions and for use electrical power as per the indications on the unit's
rating plate is required, with online protective cutouts. The cable cross sections and the scaling
of the line switch are purely indicative. The installation engineer will be responsible for properly scaling the
power line with regards to the length and type of cable, the power input of the unit and the
physical positioning. All the electrical connections must comply with the regulations in force at the
time of the installation. The diagrams and schematics in this documentation must only be used as an aid for
the setting up of the electrical lines.

NOTE:
Check that all power cables are correctly secured to the terminals when switched on for the first time and after
30 days of use. Afterwards, check the connection of the power cables every six months. Slack
terminals could cause the cables and components to overheat.

START-UP
PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS
WARNING
Before carrying out the controls indicated below, ensure that the unit is disconnected from the mains supply.
Ensure that the main switch is turned to OFF and locked in position, and attach a warning sign to the switch.
Before beginning the operations, check the absence of voltage by means of a voltmeter or a phase detector.

Electrical checks

- Check the general power supply cables are of a suitable section, able to withstand the overall absorption of
the unit (see electrical data), and that the unit has been duly earthed.
- Check all the electrical connections are correctly fixed and all the terminals adequately closed.
The following operations must be carried out when the unit is powered up.
- Power up the unit by turning the main switch to the ON position. The display will light up a few seconds
after this. Check that the working status is positioned on OFF
- Use a tester to check that the value of the supply voltage at the RST phases is equal to 400V ±10%, and also
check that the imbalance between the phases is not greater than 3%.
- Check that the connections made by the installer comply with the data given here.
- Check the heater(s) of the compressor carter are working by measuring the increase in temperature of the oil
bowl. The heater(s) must work for at least 24 hours before the compressor start-up,
and in any case the temperature of the oil bowl must be 10-15°C higher than the room temperature.

WARNING:
At least 24 hours before starting up the unit (or at the end of each period of prolonged inactivity) the unit must
be powered up, to allow the heaters of the compressor carter to evaporate any refrigerant that may be present
in the oil. If this precaution is not performed the compressor could be seriously damaged and the guarantee
would no longer be valid.

Start-up

16
After carefully carrying out all the checks detailed above, it is possible to start up the unit by pressing the
MODE button. Check the set working parameters (setpoint)
and rearm any alarms that may be present. After a few minutes, the unit will start up.
- Check the rotation direction of the fans.
- Check the input current of the fans and the compressor, and compare it with the technical data in the
technical documentation.
NOTE:
For the setting of all functional parameters and for detailed information regarding machine functioning, refer
to the user's manual.

Refrigerating circuit checks

- Check for any refrigerating gas leaks, especially near the pressure transducers and pressure switches
(vibration during transport may have loosened the connectors).
- After a brief working period, check the level of oil in the compressor and the absence of bubbles in the liquid
indicator glass. The continuous passage of vapour bubbles may indicate an insufficient refrigerant charge or
that the thermostatic valve is incorrectly set. The presence of vapour for brief periods is, however, possible.

Main steps:
1. Insert the connecting cable firmly into the terminal block. Incorrect insert could cause a short circuit
or fire
2. Ensure that the earth wire is connected
3. Carry out the wiring in conformity with regulations to ensure correct unit operation
4. Make sure that the mains are compatible with characteristics of the unit.
5. Always use an independent line
6. Every electrical element has to be connected to the system earth

8. Inspection, maintenance, cleaning

The investor has to nominate a person with appropriate qualification, who will take care for the normal work
of the unit. He has to look for observing the operating and maintenance instruction and fill in the register all
made regular inspections, failures and other works on the unit. If it is necessary, technical support from the
manufacturer could be asked for.

!Only qualified persons or organization may carry out maintenance of the VEDA Max.E-Mini unit.
!Before any maintenance work disconnect the unit from the electric supply; Ensure that, during maintenance,
the unit could not be start up without knowledge of the person working on it.

!During the maintenance wear proper individual protection devices.

Inspection and maintenance works have to be carried out periodically by the user
8.1. Inspection works:
The air flow rate values must not be lower than 15% of the nominal values indicated in the technical
specifications table. Otherwise Damvent Ltd. cannot guarantee the normal work of the unit and it`s
parameters. Insufficient airflows could result in: low/high pressure switch off, evaporator frosting,
insufficient technical parameters.

8.2. Maintenance requirements according to the refrigerant R407C

17
- Avoid refilling with oil different from the one specified and already used in the compressor.
- If there are gas leaks causing the unit to be even partially empty, do not refill with refrigerant, but empty the
unit completely and refill it with the foreseen amount- always with refrigerant R407C
- In the event of replacement of one of the refrigerating circuit parts, do not leave the circuit open for more
than 15 minutes.
- In particular, in the event of replacing the compressor, complete the installation within the abovementioned
time after the rubber plugs have been removed.
- When empty, do not switch on the compressor; do not compress the air within the compressor.
- When using R407C gas bottles, it is recommended to take care of the maximum number of drawings
permitted in order to guarantee the correct ratio of components of the R407C gas.
