Approach:

? Briefly introduction about case study like ethical values in what and
stakeholders involved.
• The second part demands the ethical issues involved in the case.
• The third part should explain the reaction in ethical perspective and
also discuss the way forward advice to Maya. The above case involves the ethical
issues like
• Friendship with Maya
• Basic human rights ofChild
• Constitutional provisions
• Moral values (child labour) i.e. respect for human life , the problem
should be approached with compassion, love and persuasion.
The stakeholders involved are child, Mother, Maya, their family and Society at
large.
(A) Ethical issue involved here is of casual child labour. Child labour refers to
the employment of the children in any work that deprived children of their
childhood and interfered with their ability to attend regular school and that is
mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful. The activities of
domestic worker have an equally detrimental effect on the mental and physical
growth of the child and has led the government to recently amended child labour
act, making it is illegal for children below 14 years of age to get engaged in any
kind of activity. This is a welcome step in this regard and will help strengthen
the fight against child labour.
(B) I will convey my concern in this regard to Maya and will try to convince her to
stop this practice. I will make her aware of the new rules under which she could
face action by law. I would appreciate her efforts for helping her domestic help in
time of need but at the same time I will ask her to contribute to the child
development in the right way and not just monetary help. I will make her understand
that her being generous in monetary terms is not to be seen in short term rather
should be looked in broader perspective. I am hopeful that after properly
convincing Maya, she will understand my point and do the right thing.
Child labour is a menace which should be curbed root and shoot as it is not just a
crime against one individual but against the society. A healthy and happy child
grows up to become a responsible and contributing citizen. No one at, no cost
should snatch the childhood of a child, just because the parents of that child are
poor. Healthy and happy childhood is not just the responsibility of parents but
society and nation.
