Hey, what’s going on?

Nothing.

Come on, tell me.

What the f**k Sophia! How could you let this happen?
SOPHIA
I don’t know. I’m sorry.
CUT TO:
Sophia nods.
SOPHIA
I don’t know if I want to keep it. I can’t afford a baby, and Oscar is not exactly father material.

Have you thought about going to a women’s health clinic?

They can give you all the information you need to make a decision.
Sophia nods.

Thank you so much. I think I’ve made my decision.

Oscar, we need to talk.
OSCAR
What’s up?

I’ve decided to have an abortion.

No f**king way! You’re not killing my child!
SOPHIA
Oscar, please calm down.
OSCAR
You’re not getting an abortion, Sophia! I won’t let you!

FADE IN:
KRISSA (V.O.)
Hello?
SOPHIA
Hey, it’s me.
KRISSA (V.O.)
Sophia, are you okay?
SOPHIA
No, I’m not. Oscar’s been getting worse, and I don’t know what to do.
KRISSA (V.O.)
Sophia, you need to get out of there. It’s not safe for you.
SOPHIA
I know. I’m making plans to leave him for good.
KRISSA (V.O.)
Good. I’ll be here for you, every step of the way.
SOPHIA
Thank you, Krissa. You’re the best friend I could ever ask for.
KRISSA (V.O.)
That’s what friends are for.
Sophia hangs up the phone and takes a deep breath, feeling a sense of determination wash over her.
CUT TO:
Sophia packs a bag, trying to be as quiet as possible so as not to alert Oscar. She hears him snoring in the
other room and takes one last look at the room she shared with him. She walks out the door, closing it
behind her as she makes her way to a new beginning.
FADE OUT.
