Finish Line has always been a store that I first want to go to when I visit my local mall or
shopping outlet. They always seem to have the best deals and often have exclusive products that can
only be bought there. Finish Line Incorporated is an athletic retailer that are most famous for selling
their shoes, but they also carry many other fashionable, sports products and accessories The companies’
headquarters is located right in downtown Indianapolis. According to zippia.com, they have 660 stores
in 47 states, and they employ over 10,000 people across America. They employ people throughout their
stores and throughout the corporation with jobs such as product or design managers.
Finish Line is a large leader in the space of athletic retail, but with it being such a large space it
has seen a lot of competition. Major competitors include outlet stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods and
champ sports. The biggest competitor that people compare them to is footlocker, because they sell the
same variety of products. The thing that sets finish line apart from lot of these other athletic wear stores
is that they specialize in just athletic wear. Most of the time I will not go to a Dicks sporting goods if I
want an athletic outfit. They also have a very diverse line of employees that they consistently talk about
and not the importance of. According to zippia.com they said, “The company is 38 percent female and
38 percent are minorities.” Right now, having a diverse workforce is more important than ever, it
improves the image of the company as well as offers opportunities to people in their communities and
The main concerns I have for this company are largely supported by the retail markets fall as of
recently. The actual retail stores are what I fear for, but this is a problem for most retail stores. The hard
part for finish line is that there are many similar stores and there’s probably only going to be more. The
way that Finish Line can be proactive, and have already been doing, is having a large online presence.
They need to keep up to date with trends and one thing they could really improve on their online
Globally they do not have stores overseas, but you can buy from the store if you are in another
country via their online marketplace. Through some research it is a little more difficult than just going to
their website you have to signup with a US based shipping forward service. Opening more stores in
other countries would be my first suggestion. Many places such as China and Japan have thriving retail
markets and finish line would do well in one of these places. Increasing their social media presence

In Conclusion Finish Line is a very successful company and is responsible for employing many
people. They have a large hold on this market in America already and embody what and American
company should stand for. They offer everybody an opportunity and provide good products to their
communities. They do have a strong presence in America, but I do feel there is more that could be done
and should be done to increase their presence in other countries. A little more work on their social
media and starting to brand the country internationally is exactly what the company needs to skyrocket.
